The dumbest thing to throw in. Obviously, you can't walk and chew gum at the same time, but most people can. Even in Ukraine right now, what's one of the main complaints is that kids are missing school. You're low information so probably don't know that. |
The SBOE doesn't set the DOH or DC schools policies/plans related to COVID mitigation. The Mayor, DME, Department of Health, and those agencies that do set the policies (and can change them) were working on this already. It's a coincidence. |
Because asymptomatic testing is a waste of time and resources. We shouldn't be disrupting the lives of kids like this anymore. He told them, and they didn't listen. Which is why I had to go down there and threaten the principal and the testing people with lawsuits for assault. Sometimes, you need to yell to get people to pay attention. |
|
This. Asymptomatic testing is crazy. Asymptomatic = NOT SICK. Perfectly healthy children do not need their local school testing them for viruses on a regular basis. This insanity needs to stop. |
Right. That's the point- we specifically opted out in compliance with DCPS procedures, and my son told them we had opted him out. In any other context, performing a medical test when someone has specifically opted out would constitute assault. The principal and the testing people knew they screwed up, and actually admitted so in an e-mail where they assured us it would never happen again. |

+1 I would be pissed if the school performed a medical test on my child that I opted out of. And all of you saying this parent is a ‘nutter’ would flip out about that too. If the school can’t keep track of that you better be worried about them keeping track of your child’s accommodations on standardized tests or your child’s medication that they need to administer at school or that your child has an allergy to a certain food. |
| Yeah, I don’t really care about asymptomatic testing, but I do care about a school following a parental choice on a medical test. That’s a fundamental point, COVID measures aside. |
I agree. Most people would object to the school taking a DNA sample from their child without permission. The Covid test is the same sample; we’re just going on trust about how it’s used. |
It’s spitting in a tube. Calm down no electrodes are involved |
Another person missing the point. Consent is a pretty important concept, don't you think? |
Yeah right. |

So, do you think today the day DCPS lifts the mandate? If so, starting Monday, or after Spring Break?
