Bus issues solution.. maybe

This is the problem with the MCPS story. Currently they have 11 schools out on virtual, yet they claim everything is fine but have to ask the Governor to call out the National Guard?

MCPS asked Hogan, knowing he'd say "No", just to shut a bunch of noisy parents up.

Seriously??? You sound like an simple-minded moron.

Poor, middle class, upper middle class and even rich parents rely on buses. My neighbors are doctors. They leave before their middle school kids go to school. If the bus doesn't come, it causes disruption to the kids, the parents, the patients, the teachers. . . .

Not everyone stays home to do Pilates all day.

You and your rich neighbors can chip in and pay for a driver. Maybe your Pilates instructor can do it.

And you care so much about your own world, you don't give a crap about National Guard members who also have real jobs and families at home. Hmmmmmm.....

OR - translation: hey, parents, drive your own kids to school. It’s tough to prioritize them when you have that new SUV to pay do - but use it to, you know, take care of the kids you have. Not sure why you think the government owes you a bus ride. Deal.

Not sure why you think every family in Montgomery County has an SUV and a spare parent to drive it twice a day.

There are enough SUVs in Montgomery County for people to carpool their kids. You all bought those cars with the third row for *something.* Use it.

Drive your own kids. I am so sick of the carpool mooching parents who pretend they are carpooling when they are having someone else do all the driving.

It's my SUV. It's my driver. I'm doing my share.

There are enough SUVs in Montgomery County for people to carpool their kids. You all bought those cars with the third row for *something.* Use it.

Who is "you all"? There are a lot of parents who don't drive large suvs with a 3rd row, myself included. You think Title 1 schools have a ton of parents with a 3rd row suv?

From my own experience, yes. But it's not title 1 parents who are screeching and whining about this, either. Their kids know what a bus is.

? what? I'm pretty sure UMC kids whose parents have a large suv know what a bus is, too. Your post makes zero sense.

Actually, the bus shortage issue has hit eastern county the most, ie, where there are a lot more Title 1 schools.

A public bus, Dorothy. Perhaps you don't notice them because they don't stop on your cul-de-sac.

Not only do I not live in a cul de sac, but I, my spouse and my kids have all taken a public bus at some point. My kids have taken the ride-on bus by themselves.

But did you know that the MoCo is having a bus driver shortage, too?

BTW, I grew up lower income, in a large school district, larger than MCPS, and I always walked to school. No free school buses where I grew up.

I walked to school, too. 3/4 of a mile through a city. Alone at 7.

When I was ten I took the trolley and the subway or the trolley and the bus. Whichever I felt like for the day. It was fabulous.

MoCo is having a bus driver shortage too, yes. However, most of the Moco high schools are at least *somewhat* walkable from a metro. Not a very nice walk or a short one, but in a pinch, doable.

(Once, we actually roller skates to school, but our parents found out later and we're. It pleased. It was four miles.)

You are the idiot. I've never spoken at a board meeting.

If your school is having operational issues, then they should go virtual. But yea, not ALL schools are having serious issues enough to go virtual. That's why MCPS is looking at the schools case by case. Get it?

You're the dumb one, and probably don't know how to manage a large project. You are paralyzed with fear, and your anxiety probably rubs off on your kids. I feel sorry for your kids.

Cool. I feel bad for yours.

Very few schools are walkable from the metro.
