How would you feel about this MIL taking over kitchen thing? Am I being petty?

The first thing my self-centered MIL does is go through every closet, pantry and drawer and take inventory of what’s there. Then proceeds to cook up and eat everything she possibly can. Heavy usage of all our stuff.

Now we put away any gifts, nice foods, and nice stuff before they come.

And they NEVER even offer to pay for groceries or take us out to dinner or anything while staying with us for 1-3 weeks. Never.

Oh, same, same, but she demands to be taken to the store to buy all kinds of crap, too. Never once will she offer to pay. Once we were at the movies and she wanted a drink, it was one of those order from your seat places, and the waiter came over and told us she said we would pay for her soda. Lol! It’s so crazy.

Good thing your husband has hands and can clean the kitchen. It will give her one more thing to talk about. Talk to him beforehand and tell him he HAS to do it. If not, you’ll check into a hotel.

I totally get having the husband do the cleaning, but it's still super annoying because it takes time away from somewhere else--kids' bedtime duty, hanging out with his wife, whatever. I have no solutions but just wanted to chime in that this fact pattern is irritating.
