Democrats, win in 2020 and hope RBG lives long enough to have not already been replaced by then. Democrats aren't getting 67 seats in the Senate and they aren't packing the court. Kavanaugh will be on the court for the next 30 years. The 2016 election had consequences.

Julie Swetnick and Christine Blasey-Ford are no substitutes for winning elections.

Christine Blasey Ford was telling the truth. The White House spiked the investigation. You support an attempted rapist, a perjurer and a weak, financially compromised political hack.

I still do not understand why she did not call the police immediately after the attack while Kavanaugh may still have been at the party and there may have been witnesses who at least heard the assault. Seems irresponsible on her part.

You can read up on the subject. It was discussed ad nauseum when Blasey Ford came forward. There’s a degree of shock, disbelief, not wanting to believe that that just happened to you, and the fear you won’t be believed.

Turns out that that last fear of hers was very much grounded in reality.

Since you are trafficking in suppositions, let me give you some better reasons: She was afraid of getting into trouble with her parents for being at a party, drinking beer, and putting herself into a compromising position with boys who had been drinking beer. The MoCo police would have taken her to the local precinct, called her parents, and then interviewed her about the sexual assault. It would have been an embarrassment to her and her parents with whom she already had a strained relationship. She made the calculus that nothing really happened so it was best not to bring it up. She did the original coverup and would only shed light on it when her opinions about abortion felt threatened. Yeh, there's a reason she is a psychologist. Most people who enter that profession have their own mental issues to address.

You would think that someone who considered all the ramifications would be able to remember a significant detail - how she got home that night in the days before cellphones and uber.
But, she couldn't. Because, had she shared that detail, the person who she claims "retrieved" her would be yet another person who would testify that her fantasy never happened.

Nothing wrong with calling kav a compromised political hack.

That much is true for sure.

Nope. Only those who fervently imagine he’s guilty of something feel that way. Normal people, who recognize and reap the concept of innocent until proven guilty, think you’re beyond absurd.

You are joking right? I went to school in bethesda in the 80s. Most women didn't report rape back then and certainly not date rape, because date rape wasn't acknowledged to be a crime. Any girl who'd gone to report what Blasey described would not have been taken seriously. It was a regular and accepted part of behavior then. There might have been whispers about a boy being aggressive and abusive and to stay away from him, but prosecution? No.

And yet, no one could dredge up one other woman who was a teenager at that time in this area who had anything like this to say about BK.

So because there have been no reports filed with the police, he *must* have done something?

Again, read up on trauma. You just sound ignorant.

And be honest. Even if Bretty came out tomorrow and said, “yeah I tried to rape Christine, and I raped three other women, including a teenager just last year!” you would still think he’s perfectly suited for the job.

It is like you are living in an alternate reality and have ZERO experience in our country, nor in our country in the 80s when this happened.

In those days, any girl who was attacked was a "whore" or a "slut". If she had come forward then, she would have been shunned. Look at the case in Texas much more recently - her story came out in Washington Post last fall around the time of the Kavanaugh hearing. She went to the police and was shunned. And that was only 10 yrs ago!!!

Kav's supporters certainly are loyal.

Doesn't erase the fact that the man is unfit for the position he was appointed to for life by yet another criminal.

He is as disgusting as Trump.

Both bought and paid for by anti Americans.

Because it never happened!

Any girl that age would have shared it with friends. Had she been raped, maybe not. But, she was not raped--and I seriously doubt this event ever happened. I had an experience not unlike what she described (without the friend jumping on the bed, etc.) Believe me, I told my friends. And, I remember exactly where it happened and when it happened and who it was.

She is widely known to have had a wide social circle. She would have told her friends. Remember, the first person who said she had heard about it (turned out she was lying and backed off when contacted by the FBI.) She was taking a stab in the dark because she knew that girls talk. Turns out, though, that her story didn't hold water because the event happened when school was out.

I guess you missed the death threats and that Dr. Ford had to leave her home and go in to hiding? Did you miss that? If the FBI had been able to do a full background check that they usually do, Kavanaugh would still be a federal judge with a lifetime appointment, but would not be on the supreme court. His family wouldn't have gone through hell and Dr. Ford and her family wouldn't have gone through hell. He would not have passed the background check.

Kavanaugh's hearing showed us why women MUST have more representation in congress. Most of the misogynistic and ignorant comments on this thread are EXACTLY why congress should not be dominated by men the way it is now. There are women who don't understand sexual assault issues - some who even have been sexually assaulted - but the information is out there. Most men just don't give a f to actually learn about it

Dr Ford's actions and reactions were textbook actions and reactions of sexual assault survivors, and testimony IS evidence.

And guess what - emergency contraception is part of treatment of sexual assault survivors. Offering emergency contraception is part of the procedures that hospitals are supposed to follow when treating sexual assault survivors, whether they choose to press charges, make a statement to police or allow the hospital to complete the kit and do the physical examination.

It is 100% understandable WHY a sexual assault survivor would have a huge problem with having someone who assaulted her and could limit abortion on the supreme court.

Sexual assault and abortion are closely linked. Kavanaugh being a federal judge was one thing - being a supreme court justice is something else entirely.

Yep. I was in college nearly a decade earlier and a guy became so angry with me (for not wanting to be his GF) he started strangling me. I didn't report to campus police--figured that it would be a he said, she said--but I sure told friends.

Guy became a psychiatrist.

DP. WTF? No one would defend someone who admitted to rape, you dumba$$. The point is that he denies this alleged attack ever happened. You can’t simply insist that it did - with zero evidence or corroboration. We all know in your perfect world, you could condemn anyone you wanted, for any reason at all. Here in the US, you can’t do that. Sorry.
