Same. I don't want anybody to die but I am also not sad about the billionaires and the CEO. |
I don't care about the cost of this rescue mission. The government wastes so much money on a daily basis, this is a drop in the bucket. It's hard to get excited about this. Our tax dollars are often wasted. So what. |
I hope they're found, and I especially hope they're found alive. If not, I also hope that the missing group met as peaceful an end as possible under the circumstances. However, I'm traumatized knowing I have family members that people here love to crap on because they're poor, struggle to provide healthy food to their kids, and no way in heck will they be able to afford college, while these stable geniuses are paying more than the entire 3rd grade staff at my elementary school earned in a year for the privilege of dying in a public, horrific, ironic, and completely preventable way. Then, instead of feeding the masses or educating more young people who need help, we're throwing away how much money to confirm they're dead. That's my level of trauma, and rather than weep, yeah, I might make a snarky comment on an anonymous board. I'll feel the same when space tourists meet a catastrophe, much like I feel when expensive searches happen for boaters and hikers who get lost and have to be rescued at great cost. I feel deeply about a lot of things, but deep sorrow for "victims" like this isn't really something I can muster. |
You don't have to get excited about this but on balance I think that it would be better the billionaires to pay for their own search and rescue missions instead of the taxpayers. |
| On a scale of recklessness, is going to space with bezos significantly less crazy? I’m guessing it is, but curious for opinions. |
I can think of lots of ways to spare taxpayers. This barely registers. |
I am assuming that all of this equipment was tested and up to safety standards, and if that is correct, then yes I think it's significantly less crazy. Another bonus point for him is the fact that the space craft actually had windows so he could see what he was exploring instead of watching it on TV. But I hate that I'm saying anything good about Bezos, yuck. |
Okay, but I'm not wrong. |
Well you are, because they won't be billed. |
No different except for the billions of dollars and intelligence. Otherwise exactly the same and frankly if you are told and given means to evacuate and I don’t, I don’t think other ppl should risk their lives for you. |
LOL I am not saying they will be billed. |
|
Stop FTLOG referring to the window as a portal.
It is spelled porthole! |
| Does anyone think the vessel will actually ever be found? It's a literal needle in a huge haystack. |
You've decided that you're right about who should pay and who shouldn't. Who agrees with you? Not the Coast Guard and US Government. So, what exactly are you right about? The government wastes a shit ton of money every day. And you think stopping these rare rescues would make even the slightest difference? |
Wait they only had video links to the sea? |
