I disagree that this isn't a traumatizing story. Obviously levels of trauma vary significantly and many many people are able to read (and even laugh :( ) about it without feeling any personal impact. But this is really tough to know about for "deep feeling" people, and it absolutely has a negative collective impact on mental health. I hope these people are found and rescued, and that with their billions they will pay back the costs of being rescued from what I agree was entirely a vanity project at now great financial and emotional cost to the public. It's horrifying and I hope they are able to be saved. I can't imagine what their families are going through.
I hope they're found, and I especially hope they're found alive. If not, I also hope that the missing group met as peaceful an end as possible under the circumstances. However, I'm traumatized knowing I have family members that people here love to crap on because they're poor, struggle to provide healthy food to their kids, and no way in heck will they be able to afford college, while these stable geniuses are paying more than the entire 3rd grade staff at my elementary school earned in a year for the privilege of dying in a public, horrific, ironic, and completely preventable way. Then, instead of feeding the masses or educating more young people who need help, we're throwing away how much money to confirm they're dead. That's my level of trauma, and rather than weep, yeah, I might make a snarky comment on an anonymous board. I'll feel the same when space tourists meet a catastrophe, much like I feel when expensive searches happen for boaters and hikers who get lost and have to be rescued at great cost. I feel deeply about a lot of things, but deep sorrow for "victims" like this isn't really something I can muster.
