That is eroticism, not porn. And it is high school. When the heck do you expect kids to learn about sex. |
First of all, his story is easy to check since he identified the school where he found the book. Second, does it matter? Why should we have tax payers fund these types of books at all? There is plenty of good literature for students to read. This is not it. Third - if you think the book described is not porn, feel free to purchase it for your kid. It should not be funded by tax payers and found in school libraries. |
This was Judy Bloom's Forever for me. I put off sex until mid-college due to the information I had. |
Just what we should be teaching in public schools!!! Is it any wonder the test scores of US students in reading, math, and science are abysmal? |
Test scores are abysmal because we haven’t been teaching kids to read for the last 40 years.
That has nothing to do with censorship. |
Were they teaching this book? Or was it just in the library. All kinds of books were in my school libraries in the 70s, including books being pulled off the shelves now by the culture warriors. The 1st Amendment means books stay on shelves. You have no right to determine what other people's kids read, even in schools. |
In Florida, it's been TWO PEOPLE who are getting most books pulled. These people are menaces. https://www.tampabay.com/news/education/2023/08/24/florida-school-book-complaints-library-challenges-ban-department-of-education-bruce-friedman-vicki-baggett-parental-rights-sold-patricia-mccormick/ |
Exactly. |
Oh man. Most teens do not want sex handled by parents. Yikes. Books are a perfect way for kids to safely learn about sex. How could people object to that? |
It's his show he can do whatever he want. But if not appropriate on this website or school board meeting, not for the children's. |
The "children's" weren't reading that book. It was in a high school. And since 99.999 % of high schoolers have phones, they have access to true porn 24/7. So don't give us that crap about how you want to protect the little darlings from porn. |
|
Well some of us don't give our children smartphones or let them have unfiltered access to the Internet. |
Your high schooler does not have a phone?!? I’m guessing you also homeschool and don’t have a TV in the house. |
Post teenagers. |
