Yes, I apologize. About 1% of the Israeli population is Ethiopian Jewish. I was speaking about the vast majority of people. |
Sorry, let me clarify: when I say western values, I’m speaking broadly…and well beyond Israel and Jews. Palestinians aren’t fond of our American ways. Their ethnic and religious identities shape their views on everything and let’s just say they aren’t fond of our American ways. I find it baffling why Palestinians opt to live in the US and Canada and other progressive, de facto Christian societies when they have such rigid views on religion, women, gays, etc. They seemingly aren’t fond of diversity and they are very public about their visceral hatred of Jews regardless of where they live. ICYMI: my Jewish husband who has never set foot in Israel (nor have any of his relatives) has not stolen land or oppressed anyone. Period. I’ve been seeking out a broad spectrum of news and social media coverage of this outrageous situation, and I struggle to get past Palestinian pundits who simply refuse to admit what Hamas did was wrong. I’m looking at the ambassador for the plo and the Egyptian Jon Stewart. Are their Palestinian brothers suffering? Yes. Reasonable people acknowledge it. Did Hamas commit barbarous acts on Oct. 7? Crickets. They won’t say so. Instead they dig in on whataboutism. No clue how you fix this problem when the supposedly reasonable pundits only see their side. In fact, I think the only way to solve this is with a neutral third party who lays down the law and enforces it. Both sides have blood on their hands and are far too emotionally and religiously invested to do the right thing. |
How Jewish people in west and central Africa? |
Don't bother listening to the son of a Hamas leader about the brutality of Hamas and how THEY are treating the Palestinian people in Gaza.......... |
Wait: are you trying to argue that Jews and Palestinians don’t share American values? |
"Well, skin tone counts for a lot when you're hailing a taxi, as former President Obama said." +100. Palestinians and Jews are not indistinguishable. Not by a large margin. I've watched Tzipi Hotovely (Israeli UK Ambassador) in interviews a lot lately. She looks like any white American. In contrast, Husam Zolmot (PA Ambassador) does not. Not in the slightest. I'm so tired of hearing that the European Jews look identical to Palestinians. THEY DO NOT |
$100 million in aid to refugees in Gaza, $100 billion in arms for Israel to drop on them |
What’s your question? I’m talking about Jews in Israel. The vast majority of them are indistinguishable from the vast majority of Palestinian Arabs. Ethiopian Jews are awesome, and make up about 1% of Israeli Jews. I’m sure there are Jews in West and Central Africa, but they are in tiny numbers. |
Terrible missteps for US Diplomacy and long-term national interests. The Admin can't even articulate its stance on Israel vis a vis American interest other than Israel is a democracy and a friend, even as Israel detonates the pillars of Western Values and rules based system. The US also tipped its hands with respect to the Saudis and other countries in the region. When Iran attacked Saudi Oil production, the US made zero interventions or show of force. When Israel faced an intelligence failure and terrorist attack, the US responded with full force, making clear to every lulled country in the Middle East that they are a)not true US allies b)US cannot be a guarantor of security and c) US cannot be an impartial stabilizing force in the region. So Biden now has to go and kiss the ring of Maduro in Venezuela to patch up an oil problem short-term, but long-term the damage has been done. |
$100M is what food for 2 weeks? |
PP here. So how DO you explain Hebron? Fact is, for many in the region, the existence of Israel is the problem. That's indisputable fact. I'm not Islamophobic at all (FTR, you brought up Islam, not me). It's in many ways a beautiful religion. But your pretense that most Arab countries are pluralistic, tolerant, and welcoming is simply ridiculous. It just ain't so. |
I don't know if any of the pro-Israel PPs who keep claiming generational suffering have ever met a Palestinian or any other Arabs from the region, or even follow any on X. I would really recommend that you try to hear their POV to see what it's like to live under bombings and oppression for so long. Read - https://twitter.com/iyad_elbaghdadi/status/1714985262873190512?s=42&t=CjYah8aRcPR-pKSS0zmNGA It's long but I wonder if what he says will resonate? "For 10 days we've been hearing openly genocidal statements fully supported and sometimes even endorsed by Western leaders, leaders who are supposed to stand up for "democracy", "human rights", etc. But not only for 10 days. This has been our entire lives. This has been 75 years....I also want to say that even in the deepest darkness of my anguish and my triggers I did not desire revenge. Not even a little bit. I didn't want anyone hurt to quench my pain. All I want in the moment was for our lives to be protected and our humanity to be acknowledged....Every friend I talk to is deeply triggered. For Palestinians the triggers are intergenerational. We grew up seeing our people getting blown up or humiliated or subjugated or shot or beaten. Our parents grew up with that. Our grandparents. All of our trauma is exploding." Sound familiar? |
The speed at which the hospital story shifted from “war crime” to “nevermind” once it became clear that it was caused by internal rocket fire and not Israel, shows that these people don’t actually care about Palestinian lives. They just hate Jewish ones. |
The numbers were always clearly exaggerated. Can the media please stop repeating the overall fatality numbers provided by Hamas at face value? We can all agree that scores of civilians including children have been killed by Israel air strikes but the claim of thousands warrants scrutiny. |
