Do you think this is going to make Gazans pro-Israel? They may kill Hamas, but they've solidified hatred of Israel in another generation.

They have solidified hatred for Israel in another generation for an entire REGION, not just Gaza. It’s an endless cycle of hatred and violence. As an American I want off this ride.

Do you really not understand the the hatred exists no matter what Israel does?

It is Israel's mere existence that causes the hatred (with a hefty dose of religious intolerance as the cherry on the sundae).

JFC. You guys have to stop the perpetual victimization. It really is so counterproductive to any peace in the region. You cannot argue with the pro-Israel people because they justify murder with "well, my existence bothered him". No, Barbara, it was the fact that you killed his family. If you would stop that, he'd be cool.

Leave Maryland and meet other people. Make friends with Arabs. You will learn that they are humans - just like you - who want to live in peace. If you stop bombing them, they will be ok. It is YOUR hatred that exacerbates this.

So how do you explain the massacre of Jews by Palestinians before the state of Israel even existed?

How do you explain the Arab/Palestinian attempt to eradicate Israel on the day it was founded?

How do you explain the Hamas charter calling for the obliteration of Israel?

I grant you that there are thriving Christian and Jewish populations in many ME countries. I mean, you have ___________, and ____________, and _________________, and ______________. So we have to take those examples into account.

You're a moron. Lebanon was founded as a Christian country by the French. The population was 60/40 Christian to Muslim. Christians are thriving there and there are a lot of them. The president is a Maronite Christian. 10% of Egypt is Coptic. Our best friends are Christians from Jordan. And we are good friends with Lebanese Druze. Do you actually know ANYONE from an Arab country? Anyone at all?

And yes, the native ARabs were very angry on day 1 when they were kicked out of their houses, burned and murdered. It was a pretty disgusting display of violence during the Nakbah.

Ah, so you've just admitted that it's the existence of Israel that's the problem.

Though that doesn't quite explain the pre-Israel massacre of Jews in Hebron, does it?

Let me be very clear in saying that I know some delightful folks from Arab countries (Lebanon and Syria) and have nothing whatsoever against Palestinians or Arabs.

But by any objective measure, the region is intolerant and not pluralistic

Bringing up the Copts as an example of pluralism is RIDICULOUS. They are treated terribly.

Lebanon does have a pluralistic history, one that is under grave threat.

And you know one of the 7 Christians in Jordan (exaggerating for effect, but they make up 3% of the total population).

Do you also want off the ride in Ukraine?

Nope, I actually don’t. Ukraine is legitimately defending itself and there’s an actual strategic interest in the Us not allowing Russia to annex Ukraine. I’ve never seen a coherent argument as to why Israel is such an important “ally.” It’s more like it’s the US’s dependent and destroys our credibility on the world stage.

Yes Putin and Xi are currently hanging out and asking for a new world order. The Arab world has snubbed Biden and Co. Apparently Blinken was kept waiting an entire day to meet MBS who kept delaying the meeting.

The U.S. is getting sidelined because of its blind support for Israel. The U.S. needs to stay out of this conflict. Most of the hatred for the U.S. around the world is because of its unwavering support for Israel and Israel doesn’t care. They take billions from the U.S. and then keep killing Palestinians indiscriminately. How is Israel useful to the U.S.????

Israel is not. It actually hurts US interest in the world. I can see why other countries in the region are not meeting with Biden. Biden with his rhetoric seems to have joined Likud party. What do you expect with Blinken. He practically swore allegiance to Israel. Great to win over the hard right Israelis but it does leave you boxed in with no options. Every other president tried to maintain a public veneer of neutrality. Not this one.

Oh and the bad stuff has not even started. Wait till the ground war kicks in. In the world view there is no difference between the US and Israel. We might as well send troop in to remove Palestinian from the West Bank and help the settlers. Why not at this point?

Well, skin tone counts for a lot when you're hailing a taxi, as former President Obama said. I don't think many Israelis would have problems there.

The reality of Jewish demographics in Israel is that they are about one-third white European, one-third native to the Israel region or other Middle Eastern countries (which are all also counted as "white" per the United States), and one-third Jewish people from everywhere else.

So it's not unreasonable for oppressed people of color to see Israel as a majority white nation.

Ugh. It was the killing and murdering people to get them out of homes that was the problem. And continues to be the problem.
And stop with the Islamophobia already. I would not describe most of Israel as "tolerant and pluralistic" given the current government.
You really keep making things worse.

I used to imagine the claims about her were exaggerated, but these two weeks she's revealed quite a lot about herself.

I have learned, as a lifelong Democrat, that I will be pouring donation money into her opponent’s coffers, even if it means tipping the balance in Congress. She is utterly bereft of values I think a member of Congress should have.

This is completely false. 80% of Jews are Ashkenazi. We are genetically partially European and partially Middle Eastern. My 23andme results say Ashkenazi Jewish, not Russian or Ukrainian, where my family is from.

Sephardic Jews are from Spain and North Africa.

Mizrahim Jews never left the Middle East.

As for skin tone: Palestinian Arabs and Jews are indistinguishable.

I think some education about Ashkenazim is in order:

Basically, we tend to be mixed, genetically, with many of us having European genetic material on our mother’s side and Middle Eastern genetic material on our father’s side.

It’s unclear how much of each is present, but all of us come out as Ashkenazi in genetic testing — not Russian, Polish, German, French, etc.

“Genocide Biden” is trending on TikTok. Gen Z has empathy for Palestinian civilians. Biden is going to lose the election due to his antics the last few days.

The amount of POC and youth retracting support for Dems over this is eye opening.

I don't think anything you posted even contradicts, much less refutes, what I posted, so I don't understand how you could say what I posted is "completely false." I mean, my 23andMe results tell me that I have African ancestry, but clearly I'm white and considered white in America. So sure, people can have part this and part that, but still be white.

I got my data from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Israel

As I said, it's about one-third white European (counted as white by the United States, and basically every single person on earth lol), one third Middle Eastern (which is also counted as white by the United States, although some people think it should be its own separate category, legally it's not), and one-third everywhere else.

Not sure why it's so important to obfuscate the demographic situation -- it doesn't make you look trustworthy.

Ethiopian Jews might disagree that they are indistinguishabl. They’ve certainly been treated differently by Israel.
