I think so based on the lack of plowing I’ve seen. |
Arlington county sent out an email tonight saying crews are behind because of Covid absenteeism. Additionally, I think we’re gonna have problems if people (like in my hoood) did not shovel today as it’s going to ice over and will be very difficult to remove tomorrow/Wednesday. It’s a consideration for the decision makers when it comes to bus stops and walkers. |
Imagine that- staffing issues due to COVID positives. But that won’t happen with school staff because kids need to be in school. ![]() ![]() |
I’m guessing a delay. Think it will depend on how much they can get plowed by tomorrow night and how much ice there is. |
+1. To a certain extent APS is first dependent on the County to clear roads. Homeowners have a legal responsibility to clear their sidewalks within 24hrs of snow stopping. If the county can't clear the streets, whether APS has sufficient staff becomes irrelevant. |
They'll definitely delay, and if they can justify it at all they will close |
They will be closed in my opinion. |
At least a delay, maybe closed. |
As of Monday night, the roads and streets are still pretty awful. |
I just got back from walking my dog and I would be astonished if the streets and sidewalks will have improved enough in 24 hours
Crossing my fingers, but eeeeesh. It's a mess |
This is their map of what has been done. But, even my neighborhood, which is supposedly fully plowed, is barely passable. |
I'm upgrading to a full closure tomorrow. Neighborhood streets are still untouched. |
Yeah, I don’t think so either. The problem is it will barely get above freezing today, just long enough for the ice to melt a little then re-freeze. It won’t be above freezing for a significant length of time until after 10am tomorrow. I don’t think anything will be safely navigable until then. |
So school Thursday, then more snow 😩 |
