Voting out politicians who support school closures

This is the only issue I care about in the upcoming primaries. Did you support banning children from going to school? If the answer is yes, we are going to end your career. What happened in Virginia and New Jersey is coming to the D.C.

*the D.C. primaries, that is.

What happened in New Jersey exactly?

Fortunately it's not the only issue that most DC voters care about, as most DC voters don't have kids in the public school system. So you can go ahead and cry all you want, but your one-issue self-centered voting isn't going to make an iota of a difference.

Oh, and nobody "supports" school closings.

Uh, well, Democrats got their asses kicked, despite vastly outnumbering Republicans. School closures were a major issue.

I'm a single issue voter and mine is climate change.

Schools should close when a huge Covid wave crashs into our region, yes, that's a no-brainer. Same for businesses. It's to keep our hospitals from saturating, so it's worth it. We can haggle over details, but in the main, that's my feeling. I have 2 kids in public, 1 with special needs, but their needs aren't more important than keeping open beds in hospital.

There's a hundred thousand kids in DC schools. Those kids have a couple hundred thousand parents and grandparents. How many people voted in the last off-year mayoral primary? Maybe 60,000? It won't take many pissed off parents to throw everyone out.

And we already know school closures are going to be a huge issue because they've been a huge issue in basically every election so far this year.

Good luck with that. Nothing D.C. does makes any difference whatsoever to climate change.

PP you replied to. We all play a role. I apply that criteria to every election I vote in. Individuals cannot act effectively on their own to minimize greenhouse gasses, since the big polluters are industrial (mainly the food, energy and transportation sectors). To mitigate the effects of climate change, we need governments around the world to legislate and enforce laws to hold industries accountable. This means that the consumer will see changes in what's available and how much it costs. But it's also the consumer who needs to vote in elected officials that can enforce such actions.

Anyway, sorry for straying off topic.

I will vote for whichever candidates hate the teachers union the most.

Seems like a brilliant idea to immiserate the people teaching the children of this country. What could go wrong?

Parents have a right to be angry about how long schools were closed in D.C., and angry people vote.
