I'm a PP. I was a huge fan of SATC back in the day. The movies were absolutely terrible. But I really am interested in seeing good TV about middle aged women and am hopeful that AJLT could become that. That said, the first two episodes were pretty terrible. I'm not "hate watching" though. A reviewer I heard who has seen the whole season says it gets better after episode four. Hoping this is true. If not, then my hope for decent TV featuring the challenges of middle age will remain unfulfilled. |
It wasn’t a everyone she’s ever worked with — past coworkers have only good things to say about her. It was just this small group of people at one place of employment. And the prevailing saying on DCUM is that you can only control your actions. If someone is treating you badly, leave. Find people who appreciate you. That’s the advice we give to women dating a man who’s unkind. That’s the advice we give to parents of a kid who’s being bullied. That’s the advice we give everyone. If KC was on DCUM she would have quit sex and the city a long time ago. |
I thought KC when on SATC felt she deserved more pay because she was the only actress of the four who did nude scenes. Maybe because SJP and Cynthia Nixon worked together before and in non-nude roles, they considered KC beneath them. KC starred in Porky's, where she played a high school coach with a loud strange orgasm sound. I don't recall KC ever being viewed as some classy first rate actress. |
I think Kim C and SJP are both divas in their own ways, and clashed. As a producer and castmate, it was wrong of SJP to meangirl Kim however. Also dumb of her not to realize there might be consequences in doing so. |
I feel the same. |
I miss KC and the show is missing Samantha. SJP really didn't do Samantha justice in the last movie. She focused so much on her age, hot flashes, vitamins etc. Why would KC come back. They probably would have put her in a wheel chair with all the talk about age. |
Stanford was the best part of the first 2 episodes. RIP Willie Garson. |
I can’t watch this. I got through 10 minutes of the first episode and turned it off. Every 2020-21 cliche is thrown at it; almost like watching a current time capsule that feels dated, “drinking Starbucks, giant/flip cell phones” of the past ~ it’s aged before it started. Cringe factor & wokeness is what you all call it, I agree. I much rather read this thread than tune in. Ty everyone! |
Subject change-
Anyone have a favorite outfit or accessory? I liked Carries very first scene with printed jacket over cream flowy jumpsuit. |
It's gotten fairly lousy reviews but high ratings. I hope the initial ratings were for the curiousity factor and it doesn’t get any further seasons. |
This is such an odd criticism. The whole series will only be 10 episodes, so there isn’t enough time to do a full story arc on Miranda’s drinking issues while also addressing other story lines if they spend five episodes subtly hinting that she might not have a healthy relationship with drinking. |
I didn’t assume that was shade. KC didn’t come back, so it had to be addressed somehow. Just having her move to London while they all stayed friends would have been dissatisfying when she literally never made an appearance, even by phone. Yes, we got only one side of the falling out, because only one character was telling that the story. It doesn’t take much imagination to realize there had to be more to it than just the PR thing from Samantha’s side since she stopped talking to all of them. If anything, I think the show went out of its way not to demonize Samantha (and therefore KC) by having her send the flowers for Big’s funeral. A person who just didn’t give a shit anymore wouldn’t have done that. And I think Carrie letting the flowers remain was a sign that on some level she got that Samantha had her own side too and took the flowers as forgiveness. If all Carrie had was self-righteous anger toward Samantha, she wouldn’t have allowed Samantha to intrude on Big’s funeral like that. |
Without the hat, yes. And her funeral ensemble was lovely. |
I liked the outfit she wore to the recital. |
Why do you care if it gets further seasons? |
