Complete list of those who have been charged. David Sidoo was a ring leader. He is an Indian-Canadian. Probably a Sihk who has cut his hair to assimilated? Sidhu? No reason to cheat but because of his sense of entitlement. What an asshole. http://davidsidoo.com/ |
BS. Maybe some do this but the companies I interviewed didn't. They had no abilitity to pick teachers and only offered advice as to which classes to take. They were most helpful in expanding childs schools to consider. |
These families got the fake accommodations in order to: 1) get extra time so that their answers could be corrected once the kid was finished 2) to allow testing a a solo location so that someone else could take the test without detection Singer had people at SAT and ACT in on the scam. This is not at all equivalent to what people whose kids have legitimate disabilities and accommodations do. |
MIT does recruit for athletes also |
PP here. I'm not talking about the legitimate cases--I'm talking about those who pursue questionable diagnoses and accommodations for their kids. All of the above parents want a leg up--but those in the college admissions scandal have a bigger leg up, with more money to throw at the problem. |
pp here- sure it's a continuum, but saddling your child with a learning disability and brain changing medication for academic advantages seems like outlier behavior. My own son has ADHD (he was diagnosed by a real psychiatrist with full testing). Trust me, it was not good news just because he might qualify down the road for fifteen extra minutes on a standardized test. As a society, we have pathetic tendency to turn on the vulnerable when we don't like how the system is rigged for a privileged few. If you want "continuum" read this: https://www.thecut.com/2019/03/college-cheating-scandal-an-admissions-officer-speaks-out.html |
In the last 2 years the College Board at least is deferring to schools wrt needed accommodations. High schools must apply for accommodations on students' behalf (not families) unless the child is homeschooled. The school must attest that the student has XYZ accommodations and has used them consistently throughout high school. It is not automatic and counter to what has been stated in this thread, "slow procesing speed" alone is not sufficient to get accommodations. Some of what happened with the Singer clients happened under the older policies. I would never dispute that some parents have pushed for accommodations for borderline cases to get an edge, but the College Board seems to be trying to address that problem while still meeting the legally required ADA reasonable accommodations. |
They could have achieved the same results just with the comments from the mom and left out the handwriting sample. Dysgraphia is one of those invisible disabilities that kids get abused for having. You would be stunned by the rude comments parents and teachers have made to me and my child related to dysgraphia. My child struggles to write despite years and years of ot and writing programs. I'm curious about the psychologist and why that person hasn't been indicted. It probably is much less clear cut to go after that person and, my guess is that several of these kids did have learning disabilities anyway. |
One of the ringleaders in this scandal is an indo-canadian called David Sidoo. (Probably a cut-surd who has gone from Sidhu to Sidoo. Davinder to David).
See how he is creating a resume for his son. He has also launched an app with another kid (who probably did all the work of creating the app) so that he can show he is an enterprenuer. Trump and Kushner type of asshole. http://davidsidoo.com/news/ |
+1000 over half of our private school have accommodations that started in 10th grade ...one mom didn’t want her kid to take the PSAT or any SAT subject tests prior to doctor visit. Another mom was unhappy her diabetic child didn’t get extra time but only breaks . |
These guys were cheating during SAT and ACT. Creating a false resume for college was no big deal.
Colleges need to do more diligence and make every one take another exam created by the college before giving them admission. |
Umm.. for 250K in this area you can -- barely -- pay the Catholic school tuition, and those kids go to UMD all the time. Try 600K for the top privates. |
Two years of mandatory military or national service for all able bodied males and females (with extremely limited exceptions that be exploited by rich people or the types who populate this forum. |

A few posts above yours says that the College Board for past 2 yrs is requiring high schools to apply for students’ testing accommodations. How is your school allowing half of your schools student body to have accommodations? |
