Duggar son allegedly molested girls including sisters

Because Muslims seem to get a pass with liberals, even though they do not accept homosexuals and transgender people. They take it a step further though, and kill people for it. Muslim extremists have also been known to rape (not molest, but rape) children. Where's the outrage about that? Gets nowhere near as much attention as the duggars are getting.

Again, as I noted above, the Duggars were not *just* Christians but actively campaigned against gay families and legal protections for gay citizens and their families. We are not criticizing them for being Christians but for being hypocrites. Yes, if they were Muslim and actively and publicly advocated against gay families on the grounds that gays were child molesters then yes, we would criticize them as well. Look at the criticism leveled against the head Rabbi at Kesher in Georgetown (an Orthodox synagogue) who turned out to be looking at naked women. This would be different if he were just some Jewish guy who was a CEO that was a Peeping Tom.

The most fundamentalist sects of any religion tend to be very patriarchal subcultures in which women are controlled and treated badly and homosexuals and other outliers are shunned or worse.

When they have a tv show about them and they use that forum to broadcast their hate filled beliefs, I will be outraged, yes.

The Duggars did not turn a blind eye to this issue.

Stop twisting the facts.

They were very upset and sought guidance from 1. a State Trooper and 2. Their church leaders.

they sent Josh away and he got counseling. Girls got counseling.

Ok. I heard they are available to babysit your kid. You ok with that?

And then within months they were making specials and a TV show. That's the objectionable part. Actually, I object to the state trooper they chose to report to, and the counseling they chose. But it's the reality TV show that is obviously a bad idea.

Both 1. and 2. are mandated reporters who did not report the crimes. Number 1 went to prison for child pornography.

I didn't hear that Josh got counseling other than through the church. Clearly sexual predators need professional help. Did he get that?

Not real counseling. A legitimate counselor would have reported this to the authorities.

I also did not hear that the girls got counseling either.

There's a sealed CPS file, contents unknown. It's possible the girls got counseling. Unless they tell, we'll never know.

"I object to the State Trooper they chose to report to."

And then you gleefully exclaim that he was later convicted of child porn!

How the hell were the Duggars to know this at that time? He was working as a State Trooper. He was a State Trooper they knew so they approached him.

This was a responsible thing for the Duggars to do. Go to a State Trooper.

This obnoxious attitude is what gets me. "I object to the type of counseling he received."

All you liberals think you should be able to tell people how to live their lives.

So what if they go Josh Christian counseling as opposed to secular counseling. It is essentially the same. How many ways are their for a counselor to tell him "Don't do this; it is wrong; it is harmful." Josh gets that now.

It is not rocket science. Some secular PhD was not going to do anything differently.

The Duggars have shown by how they handled this that they were concerned about and cared about all of their children. They did not sweep this under the rug or ignore it. It tore up their family. They took many steps to ensure it did not happen again and they did it in such as way as to ensure their daughters' privacy and to ensure that their son's life was not ruined. he was 14. His behavior was wrong. He has not reoffended. The Duggars have not blamed their daughters. They blamed Josh and themselves.

Get over it you judgmental idiots.

Yes they did turn a blind eye. The first incident was in 2002 and all they did was have a family meeting. Then Josh was told on by some of the victims again in 2003, which is when Jim Bob decided to meet with church elders about it. They sent Josh away to work on a family friend's construction job. Only when he came back from that did Jim Bob take Josh to the state trooper who was a family friend for a "very stern" talking to. That state trooper is serving a 56 year prison sentence for child pornography. The police report was taken only in 2006, years later after a woman contacted the Oprah show right before the airing of a special on the family. They reported it an abuse hotline and that is how the police got involved, and even then Jim Bob did not allow Josh to be interviewed. In none of their statements did they say any of the girls received any form of counseling, not even the fake counseling Josh got.

Knowing all of that, if you still believe that they did not turn a blind eye then you are in serious denial.

Josh was only taken to speak to the state trooper after having offended twice (to his parent's knowledge) over a period of a year and sent to work construction for a family friend for a few months as counseling. Working construction as counseling. Now try again.

I won't say they knew the state trooper friend was involved in child porn. But seriously, it seems like everyone they knew has been in trouble for sexually molesting children and/or failing to report it, child porn, etc. It seems to be a trend, there.

And Michelle later corrected herself, Josh was not sent to any counseling at all, only manual labor.

Huh. I did not know Andrea Yates was also a Quiverfull. From the article:

Before the Duggars, the most famous Quiverfull parents might have been Rusty and Andrea Yates. Rusty encouraged his wife to continue having more children, regardless of the fact that a doctor had strongly advised against it: Andrea was experiencing mental breakdowns, suicide attempts, and hospitalizations caused by postpartum psychosis during previous births. After her husband left her alone despite a doctor’s orders to never leave her unsupervised, Andrea Yates drowned all five of her children.

Your comment that "it seems like everyone they knew has been in trouble for sexually molesting children" - what a load of garbage.

I can't stand all of these ASS-umptions and exaggerations and out right lies about the Duggars.

It is horrible. It is a smear campaign simply because they are fundamental Christians and don't support Gay marriage. Who cares if they don't support gay marriage? I don't care. They believe in traditional marriage. This doesn't mean that they are hypocrites or support child molestation. Geez.
