FCPS Skyview Boundary Revised Scenario 1 / 2

The consultanta had balanced that out with also moving Walney Oaks area, so the half of Brookfield closer to Chantilly stayed, and a balanced group moved to Westfield. There was a logic to it (I disagree, but I can see the thought process.) Then someone mysteriously intervened and moved the wealthy area back to Chantilly, but left the poorer area rezoned.

Was the meeting with Mcdaniel last night recorded?

I think the RIO people feel a deep-seated sense of insecurity, since they could only afford to buy a house in Herndon, but their kids go to school with much wealthier people who could afford to buy near Oakton. That makes them act crazy if they sense their desperate grip on the bottom of the social climbing ladder is being loosened.

Its really kind of insane to do in 2026.

From a school system that claims to support "equity."

I also emailed Dixit with no response, even though I checked 'I want a reply".

A deep "rooted" sense of insecurity. They are Rooted in Herndon.

Too bad we couldn't read the comments left on the previous maps. Would have been entertaining.

Is anyone actually from South lakes or Westfield doing this complaining? Seems like it’s a lot of people who aren’t even at those schools who are complaining.

DP. Yes, yes we are. The School Board and many residents who are either not directly impacted or stand to benefit from this have made it clear they don't care. Emails and phone calls aren't returned or are given a boilerplate response. Comments on social media are carefully screened and deleted or not allowed. There's a reason you aren't hearing or seeing the complaints but that doesn't mean it's not happening.

I'm a Westfield parent who doesn't really post on here, just reads. I emailed Seema Dixit (twice) as well as the at-large members of the SB and Reid's office, raising concerns with Westfield losing too many students and teachers. I don't want to advocate for other people's children to be moved, but I am concerned that our school is being set up to fail academically. I was very surprised that the consultants chose to create a split feeder at Brookfield rather than move all of Bull Run over to Westfield. I didn't realize Dixit lived in one of the Bull Run/CVHS neighborhoods. Exempting Walney Oaks after moving part of Brookfield over is not a decision based on logic or geography. That area is closer to Westfield than CHS.

No one has replied to any of my polite, respectful messages. Also, my kid's favorite coach is getting de-staffed next year and moved to Skyview. Hopefully he will still be able to continue coaching here.

I think all of your concerns are fair. Westfield is losing 800-900 students and a ton of teachers, their FARMs rate is likely to increase, and no one from FCPS is expressing ANY concern whatsoever publicly (while people seem to be working behind the scenes to make sure their areas that make total sense to go to Westfield aren't moved over there--Seema Dixit's neighborhood, Walney Oaks, etc.) The corruption is out in the open-we all saw Walney Oaks get deleted from the Westfield boundary in real time after they put the scenarios up. My kids have been at FCPS for 18 years and even I was shocked by that. I thought I had seen it all.

It sucks that the rabid RIO-ers are getting outsized attention and being handled with kid gloves, when regular families with fair positions are completely ignored.

And, at least Meren is allowing a conversation to occur on her page. There is nowhere for Westfield parents to publicly address Dixit.

Does Seema reply to anyone? I also emailed her and did not receive a reply.

I thought taxpayers paid for full time staff to assist SB members.

Hmm, good question.

She didn't reply to me either.

LOL. I emailed Dixit and asked if she was recusing herself from any decisions that would affect her own personal real estate, as anyone with a sense of ethics and propriety would do.

She did not reply.

Does anyone know how many students opt in to skyview this year?

Posting here is won't help westfield much. You need to leave comments in the boundary tool, email board memebers and broadcast the message to as many westfield parents as possible so that they are aware and raise the same concern.

Sounds like she contacted the School Board and FCPS repeatedly and is being ignored.
