What? Both are very successful and have been for decades. |
That's not what they said, nice try. When she first came on the news concerning their engagement my husband said she looked white. Mainly because they said she was bi racial. I thought the same. |
Again, really weird you (and this other poster; although I believe you to be the same person) thought she was white. She clearly looks biracial. |
I don’t know why I’m asking because you’re not arguing in good faith but I’d love to know what about Meghan Markle reads “white” to you. |
I watched two episodes with my dh who chose it. When he first turned it on, I didn’t realize what it was and assumed it was a joke/parody/‘mockumentary’ type show. It is that cheesy.
She’s obviously not a real chef/cook. Her clothes are pretty but totally unpractical for a real cook. Her speech sounds like she’s trying to follow the inflections and intonations of Martha. The substantive banter sounds phony and forced. And it is so tone deaf in today’s environment and especially given MM’s previous claims about caring about social justice issues, etc. Also how do you try to present yourself as a caring, warm hostess after you’ve bashed and cut yourself off from both sides of you and your husband’s families??? She needs to find something else. This is really really bad. |
I posted above. There's another poster. Ok, but many wouldn't have known she was bi racial, that's the point. Especially in Suits if I go back and look at photos. It's ok we can disagree. |
Yup lol. Netflix really only weighs the first few days of views when they make their decisions. They notoriously dont give shows anytime to find their footing with the audience. Don't watch it as soon as it comes out. Watch clips elsewhere and wait a few weeks. |
I honestly think she looked much mixed back on suite then she does now. |
Is your husband a Black woman? Because the comment was that "some black women" thought she was white. She looks obviously biracial to me. |
NP here. It's basically a feminine version of her dad's face with her moms coloring and hair (although she straightens her hair). |
Lol her character's dad on Suits was played by Wendell Pierce but okay! |
Haha the famous white actor who played Bunk on the Wire. Just a couple of white actors being white I guess. |
That’s the point. One of my girlfriends would never get a show because they are just ordinary “good” and not doing anything groundbreaking or original. Meghan got a show because she is Harry’s wife- not because of her amazing cooking and hostessing ideas, of which she has none. So if she is going to be having a show on the premise of being married to a prince, then at least make it authentic about their home and family life. But it is neither a glimpse of her authentic life, or a good cooking/ hosting show. It’s just this middle ground of fake pretty |
Again, so? You only watch Jennifer Garner's videos because she's an actress and was married to Ben Affleck, not because she's a famed chef. Gwyneth Paltrow launched an entire brand based on being an actress whose friends thought she had good taste (early criticism of Goop was that it seemed like she was just recommending expensive stuff to her rich friends and she was like "....and?" because that was the whole concept). Neither of these people are putting their kids on television shows for you to gawk at but apparently it doesn't matter. I personally think it would be gross for her to exploit her kids by showing their "family life" on a Netflix show. I hate it when celebs do that and this is why I dislike the Kardashians and their ilk. And you know Meghan would be absolutely pilloried for doing it if she did it, too. If she's going to get criticizes either way, she might as well do what she wants, which is apparently to protect her kids' privacy. Good for her. And you know what. Her show isn't "fake pretty." It's fake... and pretty. The stuff she makes and does is genuinely aesthetically pleasing and I think she has some good ideas. Probably your friend would have some good ideas too if given the platform. Though I actually bet your friend would struggle more than Meghan with being on camera because she's done it a lot more and has years of experience working on a set. So actually Meghan has a whole skill set your friend doesn't have that would make it a lot harder for your friend. Also when Meghan did the Tig she participated in photo shoots for the site including photos of the hostessing ideas and dishes, so she likely already knows a bit about this specific kind of photography and presentation, another skill she has that your friend doesn't have. Meghan also personally knows most of the people she invited on her show, some of whom are longtime friends of hers. Does your friend have a list of celebrity or artisan guests she could invite on a show? Probably not. So that's another thing Meghan brings to the table that your friend does not. You dont' have to like her show. I only think it's okay. But this idea that it's CRAZY she got this show or that it's so inauthentic as compared to all similar shows out there... BS. This is honestly probably one of the things Meghan is best suited for, and the show does look good and she does offer some decent ideas. You wanting a voyeuristic look into her family life is something else and no one owes that to you, not even Meghan. Go watch the Kardashians or ready an US Weekly or something. |
DP. You seem confused about how Hollywood and celebrity works. Since when does a celeb have to be qualified to host a talk show/start a lifestyle company/write a book or whatever? You’re holding her to a different standard than everyone else in that industry. |
