In a nutshell, no Democrat will vote for a Republican, and no Republican will vote for a Democrat. |
My Facebook feed says differently. Several friends who never talk about politics have mentioned what a s---show this is. |
Traditionally, each party selects its own leader. No situation like this has ever occurred where a party cannot get its act together well enough to choose someone. The Republicans are not doing their jobs. |

+1 This is breaking through. It’s not normal Washington-is-broken stuff. |
| Hahahahahhaha |
They Republicans have the numbers! They're just imploding. |
No, this is not true. Democrats won't vote for an election saboteur nor someone who will not partner in good faith. If GOP put up one of the handful of non-election deniers a Speaker, Dem would consider it. Don't try to both sides this. GOP dysfunction and everyone expects the Dems to clean up their sh!t. Just like maintenance had to clean up insurrectionists sh!t. |
And yet she's part of a group of 20 people who are breaking the government. Unfortunately, her opinion matters. |
Definitely not 'both sides'-ing this. Was just trying to explain to the PP that it's not as simple as 'They only need to get a few Rs on their side'. It ain't happening. Hell, the Rs can't even get everyone on their side, on their side! As for who the Democrats can trust, I don't know if there is anyone left. And any Republican that gets speakership based on Democratic votes, will lose their next primary. |
Like who? I'm struggling to think of any GOP rep who is not somewhere on the spectrum of crazy. |
Also the Senate is held by Ds, who believe in government, while the House is Rs, who want to burn the whole thing to the ground (except the part paying their salary, obv) |
Fred Upton? |
Thank you - this is just what I needed after sitting through the 9th(!) vote. |
He's no longer in Congress. And he's not there because he was run out by the crazies. Why would we think the crazy people that ran him out would now vote for him? |
