| I’ve now heard of 4 different kids that have EA’d to Santa Clara. I’ve honestly not heard much about this school, but curious why it seems to be on so many kids’s lists. Is there a ‘new’ school every year that seems to pick up steam in the DMV? Honestly now having my DS take a look… |
| Bay area school, recruited by Silicon Valley, that's fairly prestigious and OOS still have a shot at acceptance. Believe they also give merit. |
|
Yup.
It is the new hot school. |
| They have a brand new engineering building that is pretty impressive. We toured last week. The campus does look like a rinky-dink version of Stanford, though. |
| It’s the school the girls leave for in bend it like Beckham! |
| It's almost Stanford. |
| They need geographic diversity - not too many east coast kids. We toured. Beautiful but compact campus and surrounding neighborhood didn’t have much going on. Thinking students must Uber to other places in San Jose. Anyone know anything about social life there? |
| It’s a top 50 school and it’s Jesuit. What’s not to like? |
| It’s also super cute and has great weather. |
| It's a the Great Balancing. For some reason, lots of San Francisco Bay Area kids head to NYU. Probably for the New York City experience. To maintain balance, east coast kids want to see how life is in California. Santa Clara U. is smack in the middle of Silicon Valley. And the weather is fantastic. |
Is being Jesuit a positive? |
new poster here Depends on who you talk to. I'm finding more and more Catholics don't consider it a positive (I'm Catholic.) |
It's a private school, so OOS have the same shot as in state. |
Yes. |
If someone said that about a Jewish school, they”d be accused of being anti-Semitic. Catholic hate isn’t cool, PP. |
