I'll go first... I've been a regular since Jeff started with three emails (( I reaallllly got involved when someone asked about piercing her 2 year olds ears and someone replied that it was "sk@nky" 😠). Since then, I've told every new parent that I've met that's new to the DC area, just to give them sort of a crash course on the area, but also for questions they may have and also recommendations... What about you? |
| Ugh my now 7th was in 2nd grade and I didn’t want to ask anyone I knew IRL my AAP questions. I wish I could quit. |

A friend recommended while I was pregnant back in listserv days.
I believe that I bought a bag of baby clothes early on - did people sell stuff back then or am imagining it? |

Years ago I read on another site, GOMI, that this was the meanest online forum so i had to check it out for myself.
I never left |
Bahahahaha! That's fantastic... you're my kinda poster! |
| Nanny share googling |
Once I mentioned this site to my neighbor and he said, oh right, that’s like 8Chan for moms? That cracked me up. |
| Back in 2016 or so Yelp used to have a local chat feature, I mentioned that I was looking for somewhere new to "hang out." One of the posters recommended this site, but warned that it could get catty and vicious at times. I left Yelp, came here and haven't looked back since. |
| Looking for stroller advice for my baby who is now a junior in high school. |

I came here looking for a preschool for my now 16 year old.
I was told in the absolute rudest way possible that 1) I should have used the search function, and 2) I was a terrible parent for considering a parochial school when we weren’t religious. A good parent would pick some hit from more reputable. I was shocked by the tone and feedback. Then I never left. |
| Googled "small bathroom renovation" and landed here. |
| Baby advice on the listserv for my now college student |
| Listserv. Right after my now senior in high school was born. |
| Came here looking for information on local travel soccer teams, and then just grew from there to more subjects that are interesting. Kind of TikTok for adults. |
Ditto, in 2001 |
