Ketogenic diet on Cleveland Clinic Journal volume 88.

“The diet can lead to clinical improvement, including better glycemic control, lower cholesterol, and weight reduction”.
Amen to that.

Now let’s here from the oatmeal and raisins lady.

Except no one can manage to stay on it. So…

Unless you have a medical reason for needing to do keto, it's not healthy. Your body needs carbs.

Do you people even click on links, cause it feels like you’re a bot programmed to repeat this sentence in every thread about keto

Except my cholesterol sky rocketed on it.

Well first I don't see any links in this thread.

Secondly, its just science, period. You want a quick fix and you're destroying your kidneys and metabolism in the process. Eat a balanced diet and no need for keto or any other latest fad diet of the moment.

You have to use good fats like extra virgin olive oil and avocado oil not dirty keto bad fats.
Mostly the good cholesterol goes up and triglycerides go down.

For about a third of people on a keto diet, their numbers (cholesterol, blood sugar, etc.) improve. For a third of people, their numbers don't change. And for about a third of people, their numbers get much worse.

You're in good company.

I got too many kidney stones on it. I do oatmeal, but put walnuts and bananas or blueberries in mine.

I too got kidney stones on keto. I now add fresh berries and high protein yogurt to my diet and push water all day.

Kidney stones and higher cholesterol over here and did it cleanly.

+100

Carbs are essential for healthy brain function, but OP is clearly faltering.

Not to mention your GI tract and colon. If you're too stupid to differentiate between a sweet potato and a cupcake, then there's no point in having a discussion.

Yep.

I was put on it by my doctor for weight loss. I worked with a nutritionist in the practice and got into actual ketosis and stayed there for over a year. A lot of the "I eat keto!" people don't actually eat keto. Basically, if it's a delicious vegetable, it's not keto-friendly. And the only fruit that was approved was raspberries and even then the serving size was 6.

I always had zero energy and the longer I was on it, the weaker I felt. I played soccer from the time I was 4 all the way through college. My legs were very strong and defined. I lost all of that on keto and now, after being off it for nearly 3 years, I still don't have the muscle tone back even after working with a proper trainer.

Doing keto is my biggest regret. I lost 45 pounds but put 20 of those back on immediately after stopping.
