Similar to not getting an attractive nanny, do you have a say in who your husband's doctor, dentist, therapist, salon, etc... ?
Just wondering! |
| This is a troll, right? |
no |
serious question. |
|
While my wife doesn't get a say in who my company hires to work for me (obviously), she does not want me to have dinner or drinks with my female subordinates. I think it's petty but it's not worth the fight. So I do lunch with the women (in groups only) and drinks with the men.
|
| I have no idea whatsoever as to what they look like, except the (male) dentist whom we both share. |
| It's the butt ugly desperate low self esteem ones that you have to worry about, you know men affair down. |
x2 for me as well. |
In many studies it's been show that attitudes like this is why women do not advance in their careers. Men refuse to network with them or mentor them because of their incontrollable loins or their jealous wives. Don't ask for a link just google it please. |
This. You are explicitly treating subordinates different based on gender and drinks are a much better chance to bond than lunch |
^100% |
Totally agree. Women are their own worst enemies when it comes to professional advancement. Having 1 on 1 time with the boss in an after-work setting is crucial for true mentoring. |
We changed insurance and needed all new doctors. In the new system, you view a page of photos of doctors and select one, then select the appointment you want. DH asked me how I made my choice for primary care physician, and I said I chose a female doctor who appeared to be at least my age or older. He said, "Oh, I just picked the hottest one."

Well at least someone didn't blame it entirely on men. So a jealous stay at home wife can indirectly affect a woman's career she never even met? |
??? This is about men not networking with women. How is this about women? Because of the wife? Please! |
