This creep hated his mom's boyfriends and husbands so much... he literally had the surname of his step-dad, an engineer at General Electric. His mom was a registered nurse and valedictorian of her high school.

This worm only changed his name to Vance before his fake memoir published. Everything about him is fake. Just like his fake conversion to Catholicism before he ran for senate. Wife and kids aren't Catholic, but daddy totally converted. Yeah, right.

- Raised in a safe picture perfect middle class town
- Valedictorian mom
- Registered nurse mom
- Engineer at GE step-dad
- Wealthy grandpa who paid cash for a new Buick every year

What makes you the expert? I’d believe what he actually wrote about himself over what random internet person thinks his life was actually like

Not to mention, what his family members have corroborated about his childhood. This thread and its rewriting of Vance’s life reeks of LWNJ desperation. Pretty pathetic.

Wow this is really vile.

Yeah that’s Nick Fuentes who had dinner with Trump and Kanye about a year ago. He is indeed vile.

The guy is a creepy serial scheming fraud.

That’s interesting—didn’t know that. Did he think J. D. Vance sounds better somehow? Live more manly or more blue-collar?

If you took a moment to look up his life history, even just on Wikipedia, you would get the answers to your inane questions. But do continue looking like a fool. He took his grandparents' name to honor them, as they largely raised him.

He was adopted by his mom’s third husband when he was three. So his mom changed his name to his step father’s. But sounds like primary home was super dysfunctional- he was in and out of foster care and lived with grandparents often and was primarily raised by them. It doesn’t sound like his stepfather was involved at all, at least not in a positive way. He likely saw his grandfather as the father figure in his life and changed his name as an adult to reflect that. This is my speculation based on Wikipedia.

This is correct. But that won't go over well with the troll who is intent on rewriting his actual life to suit her nutty partisan purposes.

Please tell me how a fake conversion to Catholicism would help him in his run for Senate.

I don't know about his kids but am close to 100% sure a converted Catholic is raising his kids Catholic. Someone here earlier posted that they go to a Catholic school.

He's a Manchurian. A con artist. A grifter. An elitist lapdog. He will do and say anything for an edge. The worm penned a Times op-ed writing how much he loved Obama and all of flyover white America was just jealous of Obama's degrees and intellect. This guy and his wife despise Ohio and lower stock Americans. He wanted nothing to do with Ohio until technocrat Peter told him to run for senate. Even after he won, he wouldn't raise his family there.

Someone sounds pretty triggered and anxious. Funny how this person has really gotten under your skin.

I have read it twice after my spouse gave it to me because he thought I would resonate as I grew up under similar circumstances.

His book is not about hill people or people from Appalachia. It never made any of those claims. His book is about generational trauma and how the cycle is repeating itself among 3 generations and how he is trying to break it. It is about how hard it is to break free, the guilt, the struggle and how society punishes you, through no fault of your own, if you come from a family like that.

I was raised in an environment like this. I suffered then and I suffer now. To dismiss a person's experience of being physically abused, having a parent who has repeated substance abuse problems, for being guilted into not telling because "SECRETS", is wrong. Why are people twisting themselves into a pretzel to claim he's a fraud? You think this stuff doesn't legitimately happen, in every city in this country?

The people I’ve read who were critical of it pointed out that his generational trauma caused PTSD but everyone else’s generational trauma made them losers. And he’s not even from the area; he visited a few weeks in the summer and then felt that he understood. And then, like Paul Ryan before him, he proceeded to poop all over the programs that enabled him to get out and go up. That’s a turd barge no matter how you split it.

You might really like reading the book Heartland, by the way. I really enjoyed it. She grew up working class/poor and scrabbled her way out and she explains how, with humility and insight. https://www.amazon.com/Heartland-Memoir-Working-Richest-Country/dp/1501133098

Yes, word for word in his book, complete with an alleged conversation with grandma about gays and his own internal dialogue about how accepting Christianity is of gays.

He was just a child and had no idea what it even meant to be gay. His grandma told him she'd love him even if he was. The end.

Vance and his wife chose to live in Del Ray, Alexandria. Out of all the neighborhoods in DC they could've chosen, they chose one of the most liberal and bougie.

He and his wife are smug arrogant status obsessed literal coastal elitists.

I don't know about "smug arrogant status obsessed" because I don't know them, but they do fit MAGA definitions of "coastal elites." Both are Ivy grads and Vance's first job out of law school was as a venture capitalist in San Francisco. His wife grew up in San Diego. But, as we have learned, "coastal elites" can only be Dems, never Republicans even if the Republicans have identical bios.

Have you ever talked to an Ivy League Brahmin? The most ruthlessly status and class obsessed people on the planet who think anyone below them is a peasant class servant. Low and middle class Americans disgust them. That is what he married. And it's not like anyone can claim she's actually normal and loves regular middle class Americans when they literally refused to actually live in Ohio. The Vances are grifters who want to be at elite cocktail parties full of Ivy Leaguers cracking jokes about what gullible idiots flyover state proles are.

Wow, what a racist you are. Who talks like that? Racist Democrats.

I suggest those of you trashing his four-year military service read this. No, he did not see combat - as he VERY CLEARLY states in this piece. He did, however, learn a lot of very valuable lessons that it appears many of you have never learned.

What makes them grifters? Is it because they went to Yale in their own merits and not because they were from three time legacy mega donor families? Oh the horror. Do they somehow not deserve the success they worked for and earned?

Let’s see if I can get this right: If you come from a poor- middle class family and get into Ivy based on your own work
And merit and get a prestigious job- you are a grifter. But if you come from money and legacy and go to Ivy and get a prestigious job, it’s because those are your people and thats where you belong?

he learned how to be an adult. God help us.
My kid was shot at in Afghanistan. I think he learned some lessons too.

They really can't stand his story.

Story is a good word. Fiction is another. His entire life is nothing but lies, grifting, and box checking. An eager lapdog groomed from his teens.

Sure, psycho. It's all been fact-checked and verified, including by his own family members. Sorry you're so very upset that this white man had a rough upbringing. Just doesn't fit your narrative, right?

He was “groomed” from his teens? Because all the DC strivers and upper class in the making are surely telling their teens: enlist in the Marines straight out of high school.

Please, you would soil your pants if your high school senior enlisted in the Marines and would consider yourself failures. You’d fear your family would be ostracized and might even be accused of being MAGA

Yeah, military service has never been a box checking thing for creepy wannabe politician strivers. Even his mentor, the Yale Law professor Tiger mum, had a daughter do Ivy League ROTC.

So, Pete Buttigieg is a "creepy wannabe politician striver"? Ok.

Are you kidding? Of COURSE Pete was a creepy wanna politician striver curating the perfect CV. Pete and JD are one and the same. They have been obsessed with becoming a politician since their teens.

Ok, now I know you're not a serious person. Vance had no thoughts of politics at all until he was well out of high school and being mentored in law school. Nice try, though.

You are such a liar. He majored in political science at Ohio State and he sought internships with federal politicians.

And?? Two of my own kids have done the same thing - with no political aspirations of their own. Do you actually think anyone who majors in PoliSci or interns on the Hill is intent on personally running for office? How incredibly ignorant. Barack Obama majored in PoliSci, were you aware? Besides which - SO WHAT if he did have political aspirations? Bill Clinton from his autobiography:
“Sometime in my sixteenth year, I decided I wanted to be in public life as an elected official.”

The idiotic comments on this thread are so entertaining.

You're all over the place. First you spin doctors claim he was never mindful of politics until his late 20s ( )...then we come back and use FACTS that he was a military desk jockey, then majored in political science, and his internships were with federal politicians. Now it's...who cares. lol. This worm was obsessively thinking about politics from his cub scout days, see also mayor Pete, gov. Ron, and pres. Clinton. He enlisted to check a box, like every striver worm before him.

Didn’t he write his own book without a ghostwriter or coauthor?

I still don’t really care to read it because that genre is not my thing, but you have to respect that.

Yes, he wrote his own book. My kids were assigned to read it in high school and it made a huge impact on them and their work ethics.
