Wow is it really that hard? There was a pandemic vs I am a snowflake who decided not to get vaccinated or wear a mask so I can not work. Canadians were slow going after these people but now they are dealing with these fools. Next up Fox gets upset about forcing people to use toilets. ![]() ![]() |
Businesses have been opening. Restrictions are being lifted. Yet these protesters were honking their horns all day and nigh, setting off fireworks, and even assaulted some people at a homeless shelter. Now, maybe honking horns doesn't seem bad, but those horns are loud...really loud. One restaurant owner said the few patrons she had, you could not hear orders and have a conversation. They closed because no one visited their businesses because of the protestors that were there. They could not afford to stay open. And this at a time when the government was lifting restrictions. As for the government lockdowns, yes, it was bad for businesses. I cannot speak to Value Village, but you could still help out local places when possible. I made sure to spend dollars at local places for takeout and curb side pickup, though this could not be done for all types of businesses. It wasn't a total lockdown for everything at all times. |
This sounds more like a problem with your ability to comprehend things than it does with protective measures taken by the government, if you really think businesses were forced to shut down "just because some trucks were parked outside". |
The difference between COVID lockdowns and this mess in Ottawa is that LOTS of people didn’t want to patronize the businesses during COVID. People were voting with their wallets and feet, and that hurt some small businesses. Closed offices were necessary during a once in a century pandemic and that had knock-on effects for any business servicing office workers.
Canada isn’t Florida, where you can serve food & drinks on an outdoor veranda for much of the year. It’s brutally cold for much of the year. |
I genuinely do not understand how you justify government lockdowns to the extent Ontario had them, truckers aside. I can go to Walmart, but not to the small hardware store close by, apart to order online, which nobody did. The cafeteria owner at my work had to close, made it till this January, but could not sustain it any longer when nobody came to work to buy food. Yes, a few people could buy a few things to help out, but that will not make enough income for a family to survive. How is it that a parliament member claimed these truckers are an assault on Canadian democracy, but not what has been happening for two years? This was bad for her business for a couple of weeks; in Ottawa, where there were barely any cases, we had kids' playgrounds locked and fenced off!!! Till late spring 2021. Is that justified? Is that science? How was that for the protection of people? We knew that most of the outbreaks were in nursing homes; BCS part-time and seasonal staff had no sick leave and was afraid to use it. I am at a loss for how you justify malls being open, planes being full, but schools being closed past January in Ontario. Please explain how this makes sense; I do not see how it does. Sure, close schools for two weeks after the break-in case kids pick it up while on vacation, but why are people coming in from the U.S. not tested at the border except by random choice? But, people arriving by plane must be tested and wait for the results while quarantining? What happened to once you are vaccinated, we will not close? We vaccinated, and then we got another lockdown in January? We got vaccine passports codes to eat in, but now they are ok without them in March? Why is a PCR test not required anymore starting in March to enter Canada, but rapid is required? I don't get it. Also, as for the Emergency Powers, let's see when they are lifted. If they are not lifted for weeks or months, how will you justify that then? |
Lol comparing civil rights and racial segregation to these white national terrorists? We all know if you and these people have their way there would be no civil rights and a return to segregation and most likely slavery. |
So, just insults? You must be the deranged wanna keep essential workers working non stop pp. You have been reported. |
Would also guess that paper cash proved to be very useful for those who disagreed with government policy. Which of course is one reason why some people want to discourage its use or get rid of it altogether. |
The comparison is apt. We are talking about freedom here. Freedom to make your own decisions about your health and what goes into your body. And, I have to LOL at your claim that these people wish to have no civil rights and a return to segregation. You truly do not understand what this protest was all about. Trudeau has shown he is the tyrant that many feared. I hope he is forced to hang his head in shame in the near future. |
Trudeau will have two choices as the protests grow. Crack down further, which means murdering people, or walk. |
+100. But this is Canada we are talking about here. If they wanted limits on the power of the state they would have joined us back in the 1770s. Instead they value peace, order, and good government…little of which is on display in 2022. |
His power will be checked by his own government…..the cracks are already showing. He’s immensely unpopular and won’t recover. He’s behaving like a scared, petty dictator and there is no way that Canadians will tolerate this much longer. |
What does that mean? They have to “tolerate’ him until the next election |
