Why are women so mean?

Why do you suppose women start knifing each other in these discussion forums with such caustic opinionated responses? Is it because it’s anonymous? Different socioeconomic backgrounds? What is it?

Mean women are probably drawn to this construct. They get to learn intimate details and humbling struggles, and they get to pass judgement without censure. Really, it is a perfect place to be mean.

Why do you think it's only women? The men here are just as mean. There are the ones who project their own relationship problems onto every post and blame women for everything. See Open Marriage Guy, Guy Who Calls Every Woman a Fat Cat Lady, and Dude Who Thinks Only Fertile Women Are People.

Yeah but I want to know what you think is mean. I mean, some women just think thing disagreed with us mean.

Probably because it’s anonymous and you can’t see people’s reactions and don’t have to deal with the fallout from someone’s hurt feelings.

I imagine many are men using a femme persona. Also in real life I don’t really know any mean women. I think perhaps if you do it’s time to make new friends.

Wild guess… many women feel like they have to behave or be nice/agreeable in real life, this is an anonymous opportunity not to be.

Some women are deflectors. Any negative thing in their lives such as a mediocre husband, blah job, unfulfilled dreams, the woman will deflect from herself and tear down others to make them look smaller than her so that in her mind, she can appear bigger than those who supposedly have it better than she does.

And some women have just had too much to drink bringing out the nasty in her. I don't think I need to repeat the raunchy things tipsy women can tell.

The vast number of people who view this probably read and don’t post. It’s like being in a meeting, it’s a self selecting group for the ones who talk more. There might be a correlation between being really judgy and believing people care what you think.
