I'd like to lose 5 lbs by xmas. I'm tracking my food to make sure I don't take in too many carbs and calories. I work out at least 4 days a week (yoga, weights, walking, body weight exercises, running). I'm 125# right now, a size 6 in jeans (I'd eventually like to be back into my size 4 jeans).
Do you think this is possible/reasonable? |
|
Possible, but it will be difficult. 1 lb per week is a lot for some one who is overweight. You are not.
What is your height? |
| sure just don't eat. you can lose weight quickly, but with that you will also lose muscle. so while you may weight 5 lbs less your size 4 pants still may not fit . |
| Don’t eating is basically the key, yep. |
|
Height, 5'2".
So, realistically, maybe 2.5 lbs. I have to eat some. Still exercising, drinking lots of water to remain hydrated. |
| Isn't xmas still 5 (maybe 4?) weeks away? |
| I think that's a lot for your current weight OP. |
I think you are right, it probably is too much. I'm not actually stepping on the scale. I am really just hoping my jeans get looser, y'know? I'm doing well, although of course it has only been a few days. I'm tracking my food and exercise. I eat well for the most part, but I'd gotten into the habit of simply eating too much, and too many nuts. WAY too many nuts. I love them. But really calorie dense and an extra 500 calories a day of nut butter showed up on my a$$. Tracking the food helps, because I hate to have to see those numbers go past my calorie goal for the day, so I do think twice about eating something. So no more random spoonfuls of nut butter when I pass the fridge! |
|
Oh, nuts are a trigger food for me, too, Op. I can't eat just one or 6 or whatever my "portion" is supposed to be.
I toast pecans on the weekend, portion them out into baggies and snack on them with a cocktail. But just on the weekends. |
| You absolutely can if you restrict your caloric intake. Cut carbs or if you must have them do it early in the day and none after lunch. No alcohol. No sugar or snacks. Another trick is to cut your meals in half--that way you limit portion size and don't over eat. Also drink a lot of water and get exercise 4-5 times a week. |

You can absolutely lose 5 lbs by X mas.
1. Try HIIT excercises. There are plenty in Instagram. 2. Try kettlebell excercises. This will sculpt your abs and lower body. 3. Up your protein intake. 4. Eat your carbs only before excercising only and never after. |
Not OP but this is great advice. I plan on running more, too. I am around the same weight but 5 4. |
| Each body has a great work out Lift4. Just started this week. Combines weights and hiit. Up the protein and every meal combine with not starchy vegs. A cheese stick for a snack. Low sugar low salt to reduce bloat. Not pasta bread etc.. 30oz of water by noon and at least another 30 afterward. Berries and red/yellow peppers for. Snacks. You ,ignite not lose 5 but if you dodo this every day- no cheat days, you will lose 2-3 lbs in 4 weeks. |
|
Absolutely you can do it. I lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks and I was 115 lbs. Also 5'2".
The biggest change in my diet was no mindless snacking and no food after 8 p.m. |
Hey, thanks! Good encouragement. I'm on day 5 (day 5!) of being mindful and I'm feeling good. Headaches for a few days (probably from not enough food) so I'm going to be mindful of spreading out my calories a little bit. Fitbit is telling me that I should be eating <1000 calories a day, so it is limited. No mindless snacking - got it (no spoonfuls of almond butter!). No food after 8, no problem. I think the snacking was a big one for me. Eating regular meals PLUS snacks is unnecessary! Also, thanks for the tips on HIIT and kettlbells, PP. And protein. I definitely will try to up my protein. |
