Men wearing gym shorts over tights/leggings

sweatpants just suck. they are too bulky the material is not good for sweat etc. doing this in winter is normal - in summer guys just wear the shorts. in winter we need leg coverage as well but like i said sweatpants just suck. and obviously guys cant just wear the leggings bc of the bulge. if a guy is wearing leggings and shorts in the heat..... thats another story

My teenage sons do this ONLY because they wear a uniform for sports and they need the shorts to show, even in the cold. There is no other circumstance where they would wear this style. They just wear track pants to do other things - which are not bulky sweat pants. I agree that guys that wear this style to work out look strange. Although, there is a guy in my neighborhood that runs in just tights, and that also looks a little odd, but with his fit body he can rock the tights, so it's not offensive or anything.

Protip for OP's neighbors: get an athletic sock and tie a knot at the end. Tuck the end opposite the knot in your waistband and run the sock down one leg.

NBA. Prolific there.

As an athlete, it is more comfortable than sweat pants and less binding/restricting.

My kids play soccer year round outdoors and tights under shorts are much less restricting than sweatpants. Sweatpants are often not allowed in games--need the uniform shorts.

ALSO WHO WANTS TO SEE A GUYS JIGGLY BALLS AND PACKAGE. They would look so weird playing basketball or soccer outdoors with tights and now shorts over them. I cringe when I see male bikers and runners walking around in their bike tights and leggings with nothing covering their sack and ass.

Take a look at pro athletes that train---this is the look. Tights under shorts.

Cobra Kai---Robbie is wearing that look so maybe some tweens are also doing it for that reason. My athletic sons have been doing it since the age of 5 and now in HS.

My sons have always done this. They play soccer in 25 degree weather at night. Their team is year round.

Whenever it is cold--players wear the underarmour long sleeve and tights under their uniform---or at practices under the training kit.

They do the same playing basketball outdoors. BUt_ NBA players have been doing this for years (indoors too) so not sure why people think its new.
