Is 4 large pizzas double sliced too few? 12 kids and 15 adults

IDK, maybe don’t want more pizza for a week or so. Refrigerator dries pizza, freezer doesn’t.

4-12 (sibling mix)

This was actually the recommendation from the pizza place which throws me off some but I haven’t ordered pizzas in a long time.

Do what the pizza place says. Get the slices double cut. I don’t know who these people are who hoover four slices of pizza and act like that’s normal.

Kids can eat a lot, especially older kids.

I don't see this at parties and I have 3 kids within this age range. Even my pizza loving 12 year old. At a 2 hour party they will take maybe 1 or 2 slices. The little ones will take a few bites of a small double cut slice. For a party this size I would get 6 pizzas, double cut, and for sure would have 2 pizzas left over. Every time. So just order the 6 and plan on eating a lot of pizza for the next week.

It’s a party for 27 people, including 15 adults.

And not everyone will eat pizza, guaranteed. There will be gluten sensitive, low carb, Celiac, pizza haters, and the just not hungry ones. Everyone will not be scarfing all the pizza.

4 pizzas is not enough for 27 people. It just isn’t.

Right, which is why I said I'd order 6 but I know I will have 2 left over. Our crowd is pretty predictable. The parents will barely eat 1 piece and many won't eat any. Little kids will barely eat much either. This party includes very young children. If this were a sports team the answer would be different. Only OP knows if her people eat pizza. Many adults will skip party pizza, that's what I'm used to. I know neither me nor my husband would eat the pizza. He's vegan and I just don't want it.

If this is a kids birthday party at a venue or something like that, you are probably ok. Kids will have a slice + cake, and most adults won't have any.

If it's some other kind of gathering and people are coming expecting a meal, I'd add two more large pizzas.

To me it really depends on whether it's a kid party where parents are coming because the kids are little, or a family party.

If I go to the bounce house for a 2 hour party, and there is pizza after, I might take one double cut slice, and if I brought my 12 year old to a party for his little brother's age group, and I see that there are only 4 pizzas, I'll say "the pizza is for the little kids, you can take 1 or 2 slices, but leave the rest for them, we'll have dinner at home."

But if I'm invited over to watch the Stanley cup with my kids, and we're going to be there all evening, then we'll eat our fill, which for me as an adult woman would be 4 to 6 double cut slices, depending on what else there is, and for my 12 year old would be more than that. I would guess that 27 people you'd want an average of 2.5 - 3 slices (so 4 - 6 double cut slices) so 10 pizzas.

I order pizza for a group once a month. I figure one large pizza for every 3 adults. With your group I would count two kids as one adult. That adds up to 21 adults so 7 pizzas. Cut them however you want. Give the leftover to your kids for breakfast.

Last night I ordered for 14 adults, I got 4 pizzas because I had planned on 12, there was one slice left at the end of the event.

10 is way high. I've never seen a 4 year old eat 4-6 double cut pieces at a party. He'd probably be puking all over the floor. 4 is too few, 10 is way too many. The right answer is somewhere in between depending on the duration, location, specific invitees, etc.

Who freezes pizza leftovers?

We always do.

+1 weird comment. Think this isn’t uncommon.

I can’t imagine being cheap enough to freeze pizza. Either eat it while it’s fresh or toss it. What is this, the Great Depression?

This is a party where the majority of people are adults, and some of the "kids" are adolescents. An adult can absolutely eat 2 or 3 regular slices of pizza, which is what 4 - 6 slices are, and many kids who are 10 - 12 can eat a lot more than that which will counteract any four year olds.

I always figure 2 slices per person (normal slices, not double cut) and always have leftovers. Little kids will only eat one slice. Most adults will have 2; a few will have 1 slice or 3 slices.

+1. Freezing it is strange

Some people *can* put away 4+ slices of pizza, but who does that at a party?

That’s because you are dumb and wasteful. Are we bragging about that now?

If you are going to have salad, chips and other snacks you could probably get away with five to six, but for that many people you need closer to 7 to 10. My husband and his brother can eat an entire large pizza on their own
