Fairfax County Double Murder

Thanks PP, that would be good news indeed. There is no good to come of any of this. But perhaps a little justice for the friends and loved ones of Joe and Christine.

My best guess -

BB and Au pair begin a relationship. BB is enamored with her, ahem, assets and her young age - very mid life crisis of him. Au pair, being 23 with no professional prospects, is looking for a “rich” husband and BB fits the bill (million dollar home and a Tesla - what a dream come true).

They hatch a plan to kill CB. The Au pair is in because she is a psychopath. BB is in because he doesn’t want to co-parent and split half their assets. (Surely the police are looking into their life insurance policies). Maybe he’s a raging narcissist and didn’t want to look like a jerk who left his wife for his 23 year old Au pair.

I don’t know who stabbed CB, and I don’t know what part JR was supposed to play. But I think it’s clear that either the Au pair messed up 2x during the act - first by calling 911 too early, and then shooting JR. Likely something unexpected happened during the act and necessitated her shooting JR.

Once they call 911 (the second time), BB immediately recognizes that he needs to tell police he shot JR - not the Au pair. He needs to get the focus away from her as fast as possible. He doesn’t want to risk her squealing, and honestly from her social media post, it sounds like she’s pretty dumb. So he claims to have shot JR, and then lawyers up and won’t speak to police.

At this point, he knows that he has to keep the Au pair around so she won’t confess. She still thinks it’s going to work out for them. BB claims keeping her as the Au pair is in the best interests of his child, but we now know that neither of them care about the poor kid at all. They stick together because they have to. Now that she’s been arrested, she’s going to flip on him - but it may take some time.

Joseph Ryan’s mother speaks. Poor woman.

Hard to watch. I am glad that Joe's loved ones are getting a platform to speak about him. He has been monstered for months despite LE consistently calling both him and Christine "victims."

RIP.

If BB was planning his wife’s murder, the very least he could do is ensure that his child was not in the house.

If the child was in the house, I wonder how that went down. Was she sleeping? Awake but in her room - and I doubt terrified? Really, really awful. I hope they rot in jail.

A 4 yo is not sound asleep at 8am. Yes police confirmed she was in the house.

Confirmed by LE she was in house at the time. Maybe they gave her Benadryl or something?

Pretty much this but I think the JR part was this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Winger

Her bizarre interactions here reminded me of the pedo Beauvoir teacher on the lam posting here. Anyone else remember that? And some mom from Chevy Chase recognized him at a party in Central America from the bus stop wanted poster by the Starbucks on Connecticut and FBI nailed him. DC Urban Mom sometimes is a real outlet for those who lack the impulse control to stay offline.

His mom is sad, another, albeit minor victim in all this. Her vehemence seemed a sign of how hard it was to stay in denial.

I cannot imagine how Christine's family is coping.

OK loony tune. I am the poster that you think is Brandon Banfield's mom. I am not. I live in NoVa and don't know the Banfields or anyone involved in this case. You are clearly nuts and obsessed with this case. I think every other post on this thread is yours.

And guess what? All your crazy swinging speculation was WRONG.

Lady, you're the loony tune. There are handfuls of people (at least!) posting on this thread. You think its one person?

Can someone translate? From what I got someone asks if they’re dating and the first word is no but the rest of it sounds like they are…

The question box in pink says something like “are you dating a Brazilian or American? Tell me more”

Her response is loosely: “ No, he's American, and it's been months, he's 38 years old, he treats me like a princess and a hottie (To kill curiosity)”

So who was she referring to? The husband or the dead man?

She is referring to Brendan Banfield, the man in the photo with her. By months, wonder if that dates to before the killings?

Per the LE press conference linked in this thread, Joe Ryan, the deceased, was known only to Christine. He was NOT in a relationhship with the au pair, the woman who shot him.

How do we know that's Brendan Banfield? Has that been confirmed somewhere?

That is Brendan Banfield. Look up other photos of him. Age match.

So many husbands end up doing the nanny or au pair. In hindsight, glad I never had live in help. An au pair has the added drive of finances if from a poorer country and background and also a green card, I suppose. The way they just carried on playing happy families since the murders is quite something.

I kinda think he looks like her dad, tbh.

Brendan has social media, may have been posted on first thread, can't remember. If you look he had a FB, that was discussed. Same guy.

Interesting. There's a post on websleuths from a neighbor who said cops went to the residence with an armed truck and 8 uniformed officers last Fri 13th.

One post said "An armored truck and at least 8 uniformed people just visited the Banfield residence. Is anyone able to find any news report on this? I can't find anything."

Response from another user said: "No news reports or anything on the FCPD website. Two marked and one unmarked police car remained at the house this evening. Vehicle in the driveway had hood and trunk open with officers in and out of the house. Reports from neighbors had the owner of the house at home this evening."

Juliana shows up here, Brendan does not? Maybe he went out of town for a bit after her arrest? Or maybe there is a lag before it is updated?

What did the husband do for a living? Appears from the house and the au pair and everything else they were well off enough. Did Christine work?

Husband is/was FBI, Christine was a nurse. Seems like lifestyle would be a stretch on one income. Don't think he came from $, not sure about her. Even on fed/nurse income seems a bit of a stretch, but little girl started school this year so childcare costs almost over.

Not especially well off for this area, middle class. AP may have worked best for child care due to shift work.

If he's a GS-15, he's making at least $170. He had maybe a $600K mortgage at 2.75% interest. Easily affordable on that salary.

Why do you think he's a GS15? (not being snarky, seriously curious)

Probably on an iPad with headphones.
