I don't think you know how much things cost and how much these people make. A PICU nurse probably makes $100K. A GS-15 probably makes $175. A Tesla costs $35K, and if he's leasing it, it's maybe $300/month. The Au pair costs maybe $1500/month (cheaper than daycare). His mortgage (inc. tax and insurance) is probably less than $3500 a month. He could easily afford these things even on his salary alone. |
What in the world? |

I don't but people give Benadryl to kids on car trips and on airplanes. They could hardly risk the preschooler walking IN on her mommy being stabbed to death. If she was in the house, had to be very unlikely to not get up and come looking for the au pair.

Public records show before he moved to DC he was making $63,743 as a tax compliance officer. That was 2018/9ish. |
Yes, thank you, Captain Obvious. Now I understand why people were obsessed with the Madeleine McCann case for decades. They make stuff up and convince themselves it's true. |
You sound unhinged. You should step back from coverage of this and recalibrate. The fact remains, as others have posted, that the couple likely made enough to easily cover the expenses cited. Obviously, that income has now been reduced to one, but when the purchase decisions were made they were a dual income family. I agree with PP who suggested you don’t understand the costs involved - for many families, an au pair is the most economical option. This can all be true AND the actions of the murderers can be heinous. It’s called a dialectic. |

On reddit, someone said that BB left for work only 15 mins before the incident/call (which accounts for how quickly he got back home before the next 911 call). They pointed out that this may mean that JR was already there when BB left for work. Otherwise, the time for BB to leave for work, JR to arrive, Christine get brutally stabbed, AP to coincidentally arrive home and call BB all in time to make 2 911 calls seems too tight. Time between 1st and 2nd 911 calls was 13 mins.

BS. My husband is a GS15 and although he makes about 184k/year, he brings home only about 7200k/month - net, after taxes, 401k, flex spending, etc. Out mortgage is $2100k/month, but that is only because we had inheritance money to pay a bigger down payment (our house is worth about 900k, in Reston and when we bought it, it cost us 675k, with about 50% down payment). No way we could have afford an aupair, a preschool tuition, student loan, tesla car payment, etc only on his salary alone. |
| 15 minutes. Multiple stab wounds to the upper body. She wasn't dead when EMS arrived. I don't think CB was killed until after the call. |
Sorry you can't manage your money well. The truth is, we don't know anything about their financial situation - maybe their parents helped them buy the house, maybe his parents are helping him continue to pay for the au pair or the mortgage on his house. Maybe they did really well in the stock market (we own stock in Tesla, it's increased by 1000% since we bought it). Maybe he inherited money from his grandparents. You have no idea, but clearly he CAN afford to stay there. |
But how was there time for JR to "arrive" after BB left, and for BB to get alerted to an issue, return home and get on that 2nd 911 call? That's a very fast crime. |
| I think JR must have been shot by AP before CB was stabbed. |
You don't think a child disappearing would in and of itself generate ongoing interest? Odd stance on a parent chat board. |
