| I hope everyone reading about this knows that it is the story of just one delusional couple who is using adoption as a means to steal a baby. I am a Christian (not of the holy roller type) who formed my family by adoption due to health reasons and because I believe that adoption can be a great, ethical option. There is definitely a stereotype of Christians adopting to “save” kids and form these large broods. Or going about adopting in sketchy ways out of a sense of entitlement. They are the exception not the norm. |
I hope you know this happens all the time in the US as well where people use the courts to do unethical adoptions and its allow. Happened to friends of ours and they fought it for years and the courts in the end allowed the kidnappers to keep the child because it had been so long. Courts don't care. |

The delay in getting these types of custody disputes resolved (any involving infants/young children), already has permanently damaged this little girl. She is certainly "Americanized" by now and will be emotionally scarred when she is reunited with the rightful guardians.
It's just tragic every time these types of cases come up (surrogacy fights, tribal adoption fights, etc.) that the child is the one who pays the biggest price. Seems to me these need to be on the speediest docket possible so that it is resolved before the child is 3 yrs old. These christian warriors are the worst. |
this is great. wonderful. |
I think she is already 4. Hopefully they aren’t mistreating her in any way. |
This link doesn't work. |
The Afghan family raised her for 18 months, and they live in the US now. I agree with you that the "Christian warriors" are the absolute worst, and I feel pretty strongly that the USG is complicit here because Mast would never have been able to get away with this had it not been for high-level contacts (and corruption!), but thought it needed to be said that this child isn't going back to Kabul when returned to her rightful family. She's staying right here and being raised by people who have known her since infancy. |
NP here, I think that the “Americanization” thing isn’t really the point. A family member of mine adopted a relative’s 5 year old after his parents were killed in a car accident. Kid went from one family to another with adults he knew, and very similar culture, same language, etc . . . It was still very very hard for him. This transition, which needs to happen, will be so hard for this little girl, but not because her family is Afghani. |
Thanks for the clarification. To be precise, I meant THESE specific Christian Warriors are the worst. (Although I'm not a fan of some other christian warriors, as well.) If the Afghan relatives have not been in contact with the child for months (not sure if they have any contact), then a 3-4 yr old isn't going to remember what happened when she was 0-18 mos. Good to know that she won't be traumatized by culture shock of being placed in Afghanistan in the near future. |
the Afghan parents are likely going to get US citizenship. I doubt they are going back to Afghanistan. |
Thank you for the update. I would like to know why the judge didn’t overturn the temporary custody order as well. The same set of lies/facts were involved in the custody. Time is ticking and this child needs to be reunited with her family with criminal charges and disbarment to follow for the Americans! |

The day before the gag order was issued the Masts did a big interview with CBS this morning. Their self righteousness is disgusting. 2 videos.
