The delay in getting these types of custody disputes resolved (any involving infants/young children), already has permanently damaged this little girl. She is certainly "Americanized" by now and will be emotionally scarred when she is reunited with the rightful guardians. It's just tragic every time these types of cases come up (surrogacy fights, tribal adoption fights, etc.) that the child is the one who pays the biggest price. Seems to me these need to be on the speediest docket possible so that it is resolved before the child is 3 yrs old. These christian warriors are the worst.
The Afghan family raised her for 18 months, and they live in the US now. I agree with you that the "Christian warriors" are the absolute worst, and I feel pretty strongly that the USG is complicit here because Mast would never have been able to get away with this had it not been for high-level contacts (and corruption!), but thought it needed to be said that this child isn't going back to Kabul when returned to her rightful family. She's staying right here and being raised by people who have known her since infancy.
