Like most state flagships, acceptance data varies by major.

The high acceptance rate is due to students not getting direct admit to engineering and business. Many are accepted to Exploratory Studies instead. Middle 50 percentiles for admitted (not enrolled) students:

College of Arts & Sciences
wGPA 3.70 - 4.22
ACT 29 - 33

Leeds School of Business
wGPA 3.95 - 4.32
SAT 1350 - 1450
ACT 30 - 33

College of Engineering
wGPA 3.97 - 4.41
SAT 1350 - 1500
ACT 31 - 34

Are there other colleges besides the three above? Just trying to reconcile what is provided above to PP showing a much lower SAT range for the school as a whole.

Usually, the College of Arts and Sciences captures basically everyone that is not Business or Engineering.

this is crazy. My kid got in, but others from our private were deferred. I’m surprised.

Adding, ihe higher score ranges are for admitted students whereas the PP earlier was quoting the overall range for enrolled students.

That's weird. Based on this forum, it appears that everyone who goes there has a 1500 SAT score.

In addition to breaking it out by college, it's helpful to look at in state vs. OOS. They also had a 25 percent increase in applications for this year as opposed to last, so the bar may be higher.

It’s the football team coverage. Makes a difference, as strange as it is.

Good luck to everyone! My DD is there now and loves it!

I'm a CU PhD alum, and I'd be pretty happy if my kid attended. Business and Engineering have a much lower acceptance rate than 79%, I've heard that only a third of applicants are directly admitted. They also accept 90-95% in-state applicants, so general OOS is more difficult than 79%.

Has gotten into some schools higher on the list, but it’s still nice to get the acceptance!

Almost the same here, but direct admit to Engineering with Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship ($25k merit). Submitted SAT scores with application, so not TO, but university *will not consider SAT/ACT* in deciding these merit awards (even if submitted), which is interesting given that the application was TO and not test-blind like the UC schools. Just throwing that out there for future applicants on a merit hunt!

Yeah, based on what I’ve seen in terms of results on other sites, there’s no obvious pattern to who got merit OR honors; lots of kids with high GPAs/rigor/scores didn’t get merit or honors. CU’s A&S website says honors represents the 10% of applicants, but…based on what?

Again, my kid is not going to attend CU, so they were just pleased to be admitted and get honors. Nice validation. But if it were higher on their list, this would be frustrating. There’s another school higher on the list where they got high merit but no honors, which was frustrating and could make a difference in final decision.
