Admitted to A&S + honors OOS TO 4.0 uw 10 APs Strong ECs/leadership Has gotten into some schools higher on the list, but it’s still nice to get the acceptance!
Almost the same here, but direct admit to Engineering with Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship ($25k merit). Submitted SAT scores with application, so not TO, but university *will not consider SAT/ACT* in deciding these merit awards (even if submitted), which is interesting given that the application was TO and not test-blind like the UC schools. Just throwing that out there for future applicants on a merit hunt!
Yeah, based on what I’ve seen in terms of results on other sites, there’s no obvious pattern to who got merit OR honors; lots of kids with high GPAs/rigor/scores didn’t get merit or honors. CU’s A&S website says honors represents the 10% of applicants, but…based on what? Again, my kid is not going to attend CU, so they were just pleased to be admitted and get honors. Nice validation. But if it were higher on their list, this would be frustrating. There’s another school higher on the list where they got high merit but no honors, which was frustrating and could make a difference in final decision.
