Which School Has the Bigger Perception Problem - Landon or Sidwell?

Landon has long been defined by its emphasis on athletics (some say over emphasis). But several incidents have come to define its reputation:
- numerous incidents of students behaving poorly, particularly with respect to women - SAT cheating scandal - reputation for light punishments for students (particularly athletes) - George Huguely arrested for the murder of Yeardley Love (one former student, but effect on the school is undeniable) Couple these factors with a single sex education, and the appeal of Landon may be narrower than ever. Meanwhile, consider Sidwell, which has had a long-time reputation for matriculation success to highly competitive colleges, faces a number of perception challenges: - reputation of condescending/holier than thou parents - recent misogynistic student essay/disrespect towards faculty, and lack of corresponding punishment - recent hire of child molester as a teacher - lack of support of athletics, particularly its football program Overall, I think Landon has the bigger image problem to overcome. There have been assertions by the Landon administration that they are evaluating what changes need to be made culturally, but no details have been provided. More disturbingly, Landon appears to have a "circle the wagon" approach to deflecting attention away from these embarrassing episodes. Meanwhile, Sidwell has a taken a number of hits. One can only hope that they are addressing those issues as well. |

The question wasn't which school is considered "better". It is which school has the bigger perception problem.
As for Landon, it is silly to say it's not a "good" school. |

This was a lame passive attempt to take a dig at Landon. Mind you, I do not have a child at Landon or Sidwell, but I am really sick of the threads started by losers like you. |

| Honestly, I'm sorta getting sick and tired of all of these Landon related threads. We all know that the problems which occured, all happened over the course of last year. Get over it all, seriously. Yeah sure, Sidwell is the better school in terms of academics. However, as an overall package? It's only my opinion but Landon being a top tier academic school+sports powerhouse+strong arts program=better package than Sidwell in my opinion. |

To me, OP sounds like a troll trying to goad Landon and Sidwell parents into battling each other for her twisted amusement. Don't take the bait.
I have an idea: From now until the end of January, any attack threads on Landon or Sidwell should be met with only nonsense animal noises. It can be like one of those game threads in the Off-Topic forum. Maybe this won't work, but it should at least be amusing. I'll start ... |
