What is the most prevalent private school bumper sticker in DC Metro Area?

Why does everyone hate Landon so much? Is it really all the bad publicity? Or is the school different in some way?

Not everyone hates Landon. All it takes is a few trolls to keep posting over and over to make one think there's a consensus out there. There's obviously someone who loves to contribute nothing more than "said a grateful Landon parent" on periodic threads. It's the same with the unhelpful posts re other schools thoughout this site. Ignore and try to focus on the helpful info from the rest of us.

What I find interesting about this whole phenomenon (private school, even at the elementary level, bumper stickers on cars) is that more often than not, the parents can also past some pretty fancy college/grad school/law school stickers of their own, but they choose not to. Does the Beauvoir sticker really carry more cache than, say, MIT?

I think you (and many others) are incorrectly assuming that parents put stickers from their children's private schools on the car are doing it to brag, or make others feel inferior, or for some other negative reason. I suspect that in most cases, the sticker is there just to make her child happy or show her support for the school. What can be wrong with that? Lots of people put various stickers on their cars (Washington Nationals stickers, football stickers, a kid's public school stickers, college stickers, political stickers, "Eat Bertha's Mussels!", etc). It seems to me it's about what makes them happy. Why does it have to be more complicated than that?

ITA, SAM2. DH and I have never been sticker people -- no school stickers, no political stickers, no vacation spot stickers, zip, nada. Our two older kids -- now in college and high school -- are the same way and never, ever wanted to have school stickers on the cars. Youngest child -- in middle school -- is an enthusiast -- and persistent. She wanted a school sticker, kept asking and finally wore us down. Of course, she wanted the biggest one they had! Now we might look like total braggarts, but really, we're just trying to do something that's relatively easy and cheap, but makes her happy.

My DCs attended a private school that wouldn’t allow anyone to pick up their child if the car didn’t have a school sticker.

Do you mean a bumper sticker like anyone could buy? Or an ID sticker (like a window sticker) that's meant for identification? If the latter, that actually seems smart of the school, and different from many of the other posters here are discussing.

It was just the generic school sticker that anyone could buy.

Well that just seems stupid of the school on many levels. Would you mind identifying the school?

Not 22:58, but really, you know this--because you've taken a census?

At Beauvoir, you get a car sticker with the acceptance letter. I think it's bad form not to slap that puppy right on the car. Besides, wouldn't PC notice such a lapse in etiquette?

I like the big, brown, L for Landon. Surprisingly unpretentious. In other words, most people have no idea what the L stands for.
