What’s going on with TX AG Paxton? Just got impeached

Anonymous
Something is afoot. Why the shocking betrayal by the state GOP, which tolerated his criminality for 7+ years? Why is he now on the outside?

Is he being arrested this week by the Feds? There’s either a dead girl or a naked underage boy.

IIRC he’s under both federal and state indictments.

He did not paid off the right people. Texas is very corrupt.

So what’s going to happen to him now?

Senate trial when one of the Senators is his wife.

Yes, but she needs to tread carefully. One of the allegations against him is that he took bribes of a major home renovation from Nate Paul in return for illegal favors from the AG's office. If these allegations are found to be true, then she is also implicated in the felony bribery charges as she is also joint homeowner of the home that was renovated.

No surprise there. It’s the new way to do things.

One of the counts also relates to employment he got for his mistress. I wonder if she has to recuse on that?

But he has been, for years. Why now are they discovering their ethics?

Paxton went after the Speaker of the House. Said he was drunk while presiding over the House and should resign. That’s what triggered the impeachment.

That was probably Paxton trying to get ahead of the impeachment.

My bet is that the Feds are closing in on him. Texas will not police it’s own elites.

In Republican logic, this just makes him a victim of cancel culture and the “swamp”, and thus will propel him to the Governor’s mansion.

Nah, this didn't do it. The ethics committee was already investigating. Paxton's attack on Phelan was part of his pushback against that investigation.

This guy posits that it's because this committee had to sign off on the $3.3 million settlement to whistleblowers and that could make them complicit in covering up federal crimes which are now being investigated by the FBI.

Or something even bigger is coming down the pike and the TX GOP is trying to get ahead of it.

There's a lot of dirt - Paxton could take a lot of swipes in a lot directions as he goes down.
