What part of the forecast? There is already a foot of snow. |
Closed Monday, open on time Tues. |
FWIW, the school parking lot near us has been plowed several times already. |
Closed Monday and possibly Tuesday if not a 2 hour delay. Wednesday may be good to go. |
I would be surprised if there is school in Montgomery County before Thursday. |
But we're talking about DC here, not MoCo. |
When do you think schools will announce whether they will be closed Monday? Not until Sunday night? |
I think we'll be back in school by Wednesday with the 2 hour delay. We can start to dig out on Sunday, but too many people will not have been able to clear out their driveways, etc to get out for that Monday. And then I think Tuesday will be an extra day for good measure. By Wednesday everyone should have been able to undig enough and make their plans to get where they need to go. |
Sounds logical and will give time for DCPS to check those boilers, clean up, and clean-up the older schools in particular. |
Probably. Though I could see them attempting a 2-hour delay Tuesday. In 2010 there was a 10" storm that followed close after complicating cleanup...I don't think that is the case this year. |
I'm with the "Closed Mon and Tues, open on time Wed" crowd. Maybe 2 hr delay Wed if it seems like things aren't very cleared Tues evening. But if mostly people are out and about and there aren't major stories of people not having been cleared at all, I bet we're on time Wed. |
why couldn't it be 2hour delay Tues? |
In New England we would be at school today. Just saying |
It could be anything, we're just predicting. Today is Saturday, this is DCUM, we do not have the power |
I've lived in Boston too, but what's your point? Boston is more than equipped to function in this and more snow. DC not. So are you saying the massive, lethal, chaotic mess that would result from trying to have schools and businesses open is worth it so DC can try to impress New England? |
