Predictions for next week: Schools closed until what day?

Everyone doesn't seem to recognize that Bowser was not our mayor when Snowmageddon happened. Now that she is our mayor, things are guaranteed to go much better. I predict that snow will be cleared by Sunday at 2 pm and school will open on time Monday.

I have less confidence in her than I did in Mayor Gray. I didn't vote for her.

. . .because she fired all the dpr workers from snowmageddon and brought in all new people? With strong backs and a commitment to public service?

Not only that but the Director of Public Works left Bill Howled, don't know the new guy but Bill held it dow for 11 years and then quit recently. We'll see what happens, but Thursday morning the side roads were a mess on the Hill.

Sounds right to me, although I could see 2 hours late on Wednesday.

Yes. The only difference was that there was a second storm on the Tuesday of Snowmageddon week which prolonged things. I believe DC schools opened back up on Thursday or Friday. I can't believe people are saying Monday. That's ridiculous and stupid. They'll be the ones bitching about being caught unaware and not having back up child care.

So what kind of "back up childcare" is available for snow days? My backup is... me?

Yes, what kind of back up childcare is available for snow days in the District?

No closings. 2 Hour Delay Monday. The forecast is being greatly exaggerated

Have you looked out the window? There is no way, especially with so many teachers and staff living in suburbs.

We also had two major storms back to back during snowmaggedon....that was a lot of the reason it took do long to get the roads cleared.

The schools will be closed all week. Don't you remember? The problem is that the plows pile up all the snow on the corners and the kids would have to scale six foot mountains of snow to cross the street. It wasn't safe so schools stayed closed. That will happen again. I haven't seen a salt truck or a plow yet.

You're out of your gourd. There was a two hour delay Thursday for AN INCH of snow, remember?

Where are the snow plows?

I'm a teacher who lives right in DC. In my neighborhood, Glover Park, the plows won't come and the bus I take to work (I don't have a car) won't be running until at least Tuesday.
