I bet your pediatrician is going to tell you that if your nanny has proof of flu and TDap vaccinations, and has received her normal childhood vaccines, you're fine. Asking for proof of those vaccines or demanding titers is NOT the norm, at least not in this area, so you're really an outlier here. And I certainly wouldn't pay $500 in order to get that job. $16 is okay, but not great, and I bet she can find something for the same or a better wage. Plus, your demands are a sign that you are probably going to be difficult to work with, and she might just want to avoid that hassle. |
On ok, I see. I’m from the west coast so I’m not familiar with the pay rates out there |
I agree with you 100%. After taxes, $16 isn’t anything to write home about. I wonder if op was planning on offering benefits, as well? It doesn’t seem likely given her budget. In any case, like you said, she’s probably hard to work with and it’s just not worth it in the end. |
| Good for her. You sound like a bad employer and very entitled. |
You should never pay to get a job. It's also telling, OP, that page after page of agreement on this and you don't even acknowledge it. |
| Op here. We spoke with our pediatrician and she agreed that we should have proof of all of those vaccines, because they could pass on to our baby if she has never been vaccinated. We told the baby we are not comfortable moving forward with her. |
You’re crazy. |
HAHA Right. No way did that happen. |
Op here. We also have one candidate we asked who can provide proof of all of her vaccines from infancy. |
Snag her up for $16 an hour.
|
| And with all those immunizations you won’t need to offer sick days! Great job, OP! |
Nanny of infants to early age toddlers here and no I do not get vaccinations. Never had an issue and if a family asked for me to get everything you mentioned I would expect them to pay for it. But the salary would also have to be worth it...$16 isn’t worth the hassle when you factor in taxes (makes it more like $14). You can paint any picture you like but your demands are ridiculous and honestly any nanny you hire will more than likely let you down. Your job and personality are for in between jobs/until something better comes along. You should really look into daycare. |

Fast forward 3 months from now....
Posts OP will be making My nanny is on the phone all day My nanny doesn’t do anything educational with our baby My nanny quit with no notice I’m on my 4th nanny in 3 months. Why can’t there be professional nannies. My nanny is so lazy Posts made by any nanny (nannies) working for this OP My mb is a micromanager My mb is crazy Help how do I turn in my notice My bosses are awful This job sucks, ugh |
**whispers **(Please say you’re paying taxes, please say you’re paying taxes ) |
You told the baby? Was the baby upset? At worst you are a troll and at best, a twit. $15/hr is what Bernie Sanders, et. Sl., are lobbying for as minimum wage so $16/hr is a joke. |
