Labor law is 1.5 for overtime, and 1 day of rest.

Um no... nobody mandates that EMPLOYERS have days off... au pairs must have 1.5 days off per week, but nannies can work 24/7.

MD law mandates overtime for domestic workers as 1.5 hours after 45, if I remember correctly.

I agree that OP needs to pay for availability, not hours worked, but overtime is only calculated on hours worked. Either op has to track every minute worked or pay the maximum given the hours.

Labor laws do apply to domestic workers, but there are differences, especially for live-in employees.
