If you detest the INA, why not take 5 minutes to respond to the survey and tell them you hate the concept and would never pay anything to take the proposed test.

Effective bitching and moaning is much more impressive than complaining endlessly in a highly ineffective way.

Oops sorry ppecoraro@goanteater.com went to the wrong coment, so this,is,to this one. Again I was responding to the post saying famous people only use agencies, so what is your problem with this.

It has absolutely ZERO to do with the original thread. Stop trying to hijack things to press you own bizarre, irrelevant agenda.

And your point? Are you saying people are not allowed to comment on a post? Are you the thread police?

Because the survey does not give you the option to make a comment but that would be a good idea

What would be effective is for the INA to respond in a public forum right here. But obviously they want to continue with business as usual. Their motives are apparent.

20:28, OP?
Why is INA afraid of open communication right here??

Perhaps because the majority of this thread took place over the weekend and not everyone sits around all day on a Saturday/Sunday waiting to jump into a DCUM fight...

We've been waiting YEARS for INA to address ANY of these issues. And you're making excuses about the weekend? You sound just like INA. Thanks. Their time has come and gone. As another poster said, they have become nothing but a marketing machine for agencies. How unfortunate.

How do you know the INA is even aware of this thread? They didn't start it - the OP reposted from an email.

I went to the INA website and the information about the Nanny Credential Exam (not what the email was about BTW) is here: http://nanny.org/ina-nanny-credential-exam-updated/

The original post is asking whether an accreditation program is of value - do nannies or families see the value in this?

Over the last ten years, many caregivers and training programs have shared concerns that there is no accredited Nanny or NCS Certification in the United States. Professionals all over the country (and beyond) have asked why the INA hasn’t developed a program for certification. After all, we are the umbrella association and strive to lead the way for the nanny and newborn care industry. We share your concerns and want to be able to provide a legitimate, respected, and accredited certification program. The executive board has been hard at work researching the right way to go about this. We want to share the process with you and get your feedback about what is important to our membership, as well as the in-home childcare community at large.

Having a program accredited will take a tremendous amount of volunteer time and energy, and it is a huge financial investment. It can cost between $70,000 to $200,000 to create just one or two certification programs, and do so correctly. We understand there is a need and desire to see this happen, and as a longtime leader in the in-home childcare industry, we believe we are in a unique position to develop it. In order to consider a project of this magnitude, we need to understand how many people would invest in this program and what expectations they have.

Nannies, NCS, and other care providers, please help the industry and take a few minutes to complete this survey and distribute it to everyone you know. Encourage your colleagues by letting them know the feedback we receive from this survey will directly impact the decisions the INA Board of Directors makes about an Accredited Certification Program in the future.

Placement agencies, please take a moment to share the Family Survey with your clients. It is vital that we understand how important a program like this would be to parents. Please also share the Caregiver Survey with the nannies and newborn care professionals in your database. You can include the information in this letter to better explain our position. We need this information to move forward.

Thank you for your help. If you would like to understand more about the differences between a certification program (accredited and non) and a certificate program, or how INA plans to become accredited, please check out our blog post on the subject.
Survey submissions deadline is Sunday, March 20th.

Of course INA started this thread, it even has the pres name on the bottom. They are asking this board what their opinion is on there idea of producing another test to charge nannies to take. This is highly marketed to nannies making them think having an INA credential well set them above, even experienced nannies. As said in above posts, INA is now about money and greed. This is sad INA was once a great organization and support to nannies.

Nope, not only do I not work for INA, I've never even been a member (I did take the Basic Skills Test 2 or 3 years ago... what a waste of time). I'm one of many nannies on their mailing list, and I copy/pasted the entirety of the email I received. The only thing I did was attach the two links at the bottom because the links in the text didn't come through.

Blacklisted people are the ones that get dropped from the Ina email list if their membership isn't renewed every year.

What is "blacklisted"?!

They don't like you anymore. Maybe you said the wrong thing. Or questioned what they're doing. Or asked who they're really serving. You know....
