What "same phrases all the time everywhere"? Where? What times? Just using that kind of "always" accusation makes you lose all credibility. Not sure why you are so resentful that some of us believe that we should treat our household employees with respect and empathy. Your attitude and accusatory tone, however, say more about you than they do about me.

Really? If your company closes for a week and says, "congratulations! you are off without pay" you like it? OP, we have always paid our nanny when we take vacations. She usually checks the mail and the house once a day while we are gone, which gives us peace of mind. And BTW, we leave for about 8 weeks annually.

I don't like paycheck to paycheck, so it really wouldn't concern me. As long as they gave us notice we can take a family vacation at the same time. But, I know my company won't do that to me because I have a real job and am not a nanny. If I was a nanny I would expect this. It's not unheard of.

Yes we pay our nanny because she pays bills like us, so she needs to pay rent, food, phone, health insurance, day care, and so on, so when you go on vacations if you take her you ppay her normal salary and some extra because she has to leave her family and make arrangements, so be fair
and if you dont take her pay as well
