Anyone lese think this Nanny Forum message board has gotten absolutely ridiculous?!

A nanny posts a question about what "guaranteed hours" are and suddenly posters are arguing viciously who know what about government jobs and if children are "objects"! A part-time, college student quits her once-a-week job without telling her employers the reason why and posters are telling her that she will be a failure in her career and life in the future.

Come on, Ladies - this message board has turned into a joke! The hyper-dramatic and bored are stirring up utter nonsense where none exists! Dial it back, Girls. Don't answer an honest question with a rant and don't call posters "idiots" or "sock puppets" or "entitled" because they don't happen to agree with you. (Entitled being the new buzz word apparently - everyone we don't agree with is suddenly "entitled").

I used to come to this board for shared information but clearly it has turned into the worst parody of how women communicate with other women.

+10000! No one can simply ask for advice anymore. Someone asked for a recommendation of where to do a background check for a nanny and the very 1st poster couldn't bother to answer the question but tried to turn it into a debate about background checks on employers which OP didn't have a problem with. I don't understand why people can't just give advice and if they don't like the question then just don't answer it!

YES!!! Now when posters ask any type of question they have to preface it with "please don't attack me" or "this is an honest question" - and still the conversation turns to the absurd. Just look at the post where the MB wrote a tribute about her nanny - she was accused of being a troll or a nanny posing as a MB!

This is why I rarely check back here anymore. The worst of women-kind is represented here.

Yes, she did prove your point perfectly, OP. She, and those like her, truly believe that calling someone else a name elevates their sad status in life. I feel sorry for them on one hand but, on the other hand, I'm very irritated with the tenor of this board because of them.

Is there another legit board for DC moms and nannies? I'm a nanny and used to come on here just to read others and pick up some tips as well as put in my two cents when I thought I could help...would love to find another community board where it isn't so aggressive

I just read a thread where someone is vehemently defending their use of commas saying she can put a comma anywhere she chooses. If that is not ridiculous - I don't know what is.

We are on here to discuss our profession of working with children.

What must people think of nannies when they come into forums like these??

As a parent looking for a nanny, honestly...I would be very leery of hiring a nanny after seeing some of these posts/responses.

It would make me wonder just exactly who a nanny really is when she gets off of work and comes home to her computer where she can remain anonymous.

While I agree with you, PP, I have found the MBs to be equally appalling in their posts and name-calling. An nanny posts a question about asking for a raise and she is immediately called lazy and entitled. The fault lies in both angry nannies and angry mommies.

Yes, it would be great if nannies and employers/mothers could discuss issues and questions without the constant "hostility fest" that happens on this board. We may actually learn something useful from each other and gain helpful insight.
