I think, after thinking about it, I think you must've started a new job and they are watching you all the time so that they can learn to trust you.

I think once they trust you, they really should not have the time to monitor so closely. Otherwise, why don't they watch their own kids!

I think you should console in the fact that it will get better. Also, they seem to like if you they "make jokes" about it rather than telling you to do things differently based on what they saw on the camera. It is a nice way to say "We are aware, be careful next time," without being so direct.

I think their mentioning things is actually a warning, indirectly saying that they are aware that you are on the phone having private conversations and such.

Are you having private conversations on the phone and watching TV the entire time the baby is napping? Occasional is fine, entire time is too much. You should have laundry and things to do, to keep busy. Why do you have so many private conversations? They may have mentioned it as a way of saying "We're aware of what you do during nap time." and secondly, to warn not to badmouth them.

I suspect that they weren't being mean or not minding their own business, but sending a message.

I think you can deal with it by being on private conversations less and watching TV less during work time.

My nanny, when by kids were infants did things like wipe down toys, organize toys, prepare homemade food, laundry for the kids. It kept them busy and did not have much time for personal calls and they never got any TV time at all.

You sound like a truly despicable bitch.

These mentally ill parents are obsessed with their stupid reality tv shows, so the nanny is their big opportunity to have their own show. They need to get to work or stay home and babysit their own kid. Why not?

Nanny is the only low wage job in the world where there is no direct supervision. Now, technology is changing that. You can skip from one no camera family to another for a while. But think about how ubiquitous smart phones and traffic cameras are nowadays. Slowly, this profession is changing. Deal with that.

You're the one who just might need to stay home tomorrow if you haven't told the nanny about your cameras.

I think you are trying to sound threatening... is that what you are trying to do?

I have a camera and my nanny is fine with it. If there were any issues and my nanny quit, it would be no big deal to stay home and find a new one.

Why don't you go back to school and get some education to allow you to have a different career so you are not so bitter and antagonistic all the time? I do not think that this is a healthy profession for you or for your charges to be in your care.

Are you 15:24? If not, move along. If so, you should know if your "nanny" needs supervision, she's a sitter, not a nanny. Nannies know how to do their job and are there to help you do yours.

If that is your true understanding of the world, you need to be educated. Even CEOs have to answer to the board. President has to answer to the citizens and is checked by congress and the supreme court. Everyone in the world is accountable to someone. As a nanny, by no means do you get to call the shots. You are sorely wrong if you think this.

It sounds like its the way they are using their cameras that is the problem. I have worked for a family with cameras before and it does feel weird to be watch all the time. However it only bothered me to the point of quitting once. The Dad would constantly make negative comments on what I was doing during the day, mostly he was upset that i would sit out of the cameras angle while babies were napping. It was super strange and I gave notice. I definitely prefer working in a home with no cameras but sometimes I wonder how many people actually don't use them.

As a parent you are accountable to whom, Einstein?

Camera's are no big deal but there are boundaries to them and it sounds like they have crossed them and you need to address them. To skim the footage to make sure everything ok, normal, but to watch as much as you are saying is not normal. To make fun of you for tripping/carrying the stroller, inappropriate, offering you another kind of stroller because its too heavy/bulky for you, good reason to mention it.

No nanny as any certainty how voyeuristic people may use her images. None.
And there are no laws to stipulate what may be done. None.

Nannies don't like cameras because it shows what they choose to do on their downtime. Reading, resting, cell phone, going through the food, or hiding.

That may be acceptable to your employer, if you are completing all your duties. It will not be acceptable to them if they keep returning to an empty pantry, dirty playrooms, no clean laundry, no good kids meals, kids late to classes, etc. Then you're done for.

Otherwise, nanny cams can show off your childcare skills and time mgmt skills. But if you're off camera sleeping in the basement two hours every afternoon, people will know. Just like if the toddler is roaming around the house while you browse on your smart phone, people will know.
