White nannies in the Silver Spring area? RSS feed

I would have posted saying it was discriminatory.

And I don't think "get over it" is a helpful attitude when it comes to the still enormous problem of racism.

+1. I'm thinking it has to be a troll, but still shouldn't be allowed to remain in the forum.

Yes. That would also be inappropriate.

If she specified a language group, that would be acceptable. Country of origin? Tolerable. Skin color? Racist.

Totally agree.

You are joking, right? How do you not see the blatant racism in your post?

Just curious, what reason could you possibly have to only seek out white applicants for a job that isn't grounded in racism?

Re-read OP's post. All she asked was if any white nannies existed in an area...she made no statements, judgement or otherwise, besides this. How on earth is it racist??? Is just saying the word white in to context of skin color automatically racist?? I would love if someone could identify the specifically racist content of this post.

It's not racist. I think OP was likely being intentionally inflammatory, but I don't think the post was racist. It would seem we are all a little uncomfortable with a white woman actively seeking out the company of other white women purely on the basis of their skin color, but admittedly had she been any other race I don't think I'd have given it a second thought. There was even a post recently of a nanny looking for Fillipina nannies in silver spring and no one screamed racist. I do see a difference though in seeking companionship of others who speak your language and share your culture, which is perhaps all OP was looking for but could have been worded more tactfully.

Grr. I meant to say that I see a difference in seeking out others who share a similar culture and language versus others who share your skin color. OP could be looking for nannies who identify with her culture and language, but she should realize that if her language is English and culture American, those individuals can come in any color.

To all of you screaming racist, my German friend says that every time someone (black or white) calls her AA based on her skin-tone, THEY are racist. How would you explain that? Do you all admit to being racist?

Truth be told. Most Americans are racist -black and white. Many Europeans notice this right away.

OP wasn't looking for job applicants. She is a nanny herself and was looking for other nannies.

White nanny.

Totally racist.

Another double standard.

Sorry, but I have only seen blue, green, neon yellow, purple and grey nanny's.

What about the Filipina post just a few days ago? Did anyone cry racist on that one? Nope! OP probably wanted nannies who SPEAK ENGLISH which seem to be hard to come by in this area. She could've worded it differently, but you all need to calm the hell down. Everything white people say these days is considered racist and it's fucking ridiculous. Black people are guilty of the SAME things.

Ok, how do you get that a person of African heritage who is living in America (which is what AA is), is NOT a country of origin? AA is just a slightly more PC way to say black/brown, but in reality, not all black/brown people are from Africa nor living in America.
