Why models and influencers don’t wear bras

Anonymous
I’m thin but I’m a 34G. It would be obscene if I didn’t wear a bra!!

I pretty much only wear a bra to work, out and about no thank you!

Boob tape is also super popular, I think Kim Kardashian popularized it more recently. Many many women use it, its definitely not as rare as pp made it out to be.

I guess so. My teenager doesn’t like wearing a bra, and says a lot of girls don’t .

I’m tired of people societal expectations on women. Men wear shirts with their nipples visible through the material, why can’t women without being sexualized. Look at women’s swimwear, thongs and cheeky cuts are the norm. Men’s swimsuits haven’t changed.

Nobody wants to see that

I can concur with this based on my experiences with my own teenager. Most of them have a refreshing attitude when it comes to their bodies. They are much more relaxed about things like body hair or wearing bras. Honestly it is the moms who have a problem with it. The kids are gonna be alright.

That's good to hear. My pre-teen is now entering middle school, and while I bought tons of different bra options including sports bra/camisole types, she prefers not to wear one. I've told her that she may change her mind once MS begins, as I remember how a lot of girls wore bras towards the end of elementary school whether they needed to or not. She's definitely developing but not a large cup size, so I think she could go either way.

I myself have a very small chest. After two kids and losing 20lbs over the last 2 years or so, my already small chest has shrunk even more. And ever since we were working at home during COVID, if I wear a bra for more than a few hours, I exacerbate my acid reflux. I've bought lots of different bras to compensate including much larger band sizes so the pressure is less on my ribcage area. Since I only go into the office a few times a month (virtual most of the time), I only wear a bra then. Otherwise, I go braless quite a bit. If I wear an errand, I can wear a long sleeve button down shirt over my tank top and nothing shows through. Other times I'll literally put on a bra over my tank top and throw the button down shirt over that b/c I can't be bothered.

Yup, my daughter also only shaves her armpits once a week—max. She says she gets a cleaner shave if she lets it grow out first. She has zero problem with armpit hair. Whatever.

It’s a more sexual look to see the outline of nipples. And boobs jiggling around. Sex sells and influencers are looking for cash. It’s not a mystery.

Here’s hoping these young women ignore their overly anxious moms on this forum, and also take a pass on the biker shorts under skirts look.

Euro influence?

As a Frenchwoman, I beg to differ. No one I know in my native country fails to wear correct underwear in public.

And no, braless is not a trend. You can live in your own echo chamber if you want, as long as you know you're in one! Seems to be a fundamental truth you have to recognize about yourself. Also rather important for politics...

I said euro influence because I grew up in Germany and more women don’t wear bras there.

I'm German. I don't really know anyone who doesn't wear a bra, and haven't seen it that much. Perhaps you just noticed it more? I'm from a major city, so it's not it was a conservative village thing.

Just came back from Barcelona, and women across ages did not wear bras. So I stopped too

I wear a bra because I find it more comfortable (large cup size, boob sweat) but I think it’s great that others choose what they like best.

My breasts don't move, so I often go without. I can see why it would be uncomfortable for women who jiggle or bounce, but for women like me there isn't much point, unless a bra would enhance the outfit.

+1

DH and I were in Rome and I went braless a few times too. I’m 34B so nothing crazy, but I only went braless when I was wearing a top or dress with a substantial enough fabric so that you couldn’t see through. It was nice not wearing one, especially with the crazy heat. And DH was of course thrilled…

I hate bras. I wear nipple covers when out and about. The best.
