We just bought a house in Tucson and I’m looking for southwestern/desert decor that’s not too kitschy. Maybe with a bit of spanish/mission kind of flair? It’s a newer house but stucco with tall ceilings and tile floors and earth tones. Looking for living/dining/bedroom. Thank you!! |
Tucson poster, check out Tucson Lifestyle magazine. I personally think the key is to invest in a few pieces of high quality Mexican or Native American artisan work, not a lot of kitchsy fake stuff.
There used to be a great supply place off Broadway, but it burnt down a little while ago. There’s a place on Tanque Verde at pantano-ish that has some okay Mexican stuff. I’d love one of the really big punched tin mirrors, for instance. |

Thank you!! I will check it out! |
Request: Would love to see pretty living rooms with wainscotting and a stone mantle!!! Non-vaulted ceilings if possible!

Those are all the photos they have of that house. I even checked the cabinet maker's IG to see if they had posted any behind-the-sciences photos. |

Another suggestion: look up interior designers in the larger region (Arizona, New Mexico, Western Texas) and go through their portfolios. I just did it and saw a lot of designers that reference the region with material selections without being theme-y. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Can you share what kind of stone mantle you have? Do you mean stone in terms of marble or do you mean rustic stones? I think homes with wainscotting are more apt to have a wood mantle with brick or tile inside. I don't think rustic and wainscotting go together. This is the only picture I could find that's close and you can probably see that the stone looks a bit out of place. ![]() |

Thank you for looking. It is my inspiration right now. |
Fireplace (family) room but also doubles as a playroom (visible from kitchen and dining area so want the playroom to look put together but still functional for toys) thanks! |
Baskets. Just get big baskets. Or tell them their playrooms are their bedrooms if you don’t want to look at their stuff. |
The builder is The Fox Group in Utah. You might like to browse their portfolio! |
