I'm really good at finding interior design inspiration. I don't really understand the "functional for toys" part. Do you mean you want to see spaces with built-ins?

EyeCandyOP, I started another thread about retro kitchens. Do you have beautiful photos to help inspire me? Looking for ideas for a cozy (read: tiny) rowhouse kitchen. I'm partial to bright colors. Love the aesthetic of O'Keefe & Merritt stoves so would try to find a modern replica.

This is actually a two-part question. Speaking of rowhouses...I would love to see inspiration for styling the long, narrow spaces typical to DC homes. My house is front door, open living/dining/kitchen, back door, and it feels like a bowling lane. I really liked the photos you posted earlier in this thread of galley kitchens and Windy City rowhouses. More of this please!

Thank you so much! I was the one with the limestone fireplace, but it was actually a little more like the original photo you posted. The wainscotting and limestone rustic fireplace are original to the house. It is almost exactly like this down to the ceiling beams and huge black windows except lower ceilings. All of this is original to the house. I am having a tough time figuring out what home decor styles work in the space and don't want to do farmhouse.

Here is what it looks like:

Hi OP, are you still taking requests? If you are, have you seen any galley kitchens that make good use of the space? Or even stylish ones? TIA!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. PP here with the fireplace room question- I am looking for inspiration to design our fireplace/TV room as a stylish “playroom” for our child. It will encompass a craft table, couch with TV (maybe mounted over the fireplace as there isn’t a lot of wall space with the patio French door in it.)

We have lots of baskets for toys already. And planing to add built ins as well. I guess I’m looking inspiration for a upscale playroom that I won’t mind looking at from the kitchen. Thanks so much OP!!

First request: Any built-in entryway storage that doesn’t look like it has a farm/rustic theme and doesn’t have open cubbies? Or are there any really interesting and upscale-looking entryway storage ideas that actually hide what is being stored? We have a 12x7 space, but people need to walk through the middle of it, and our house has 12’ ceilings and I was built in 1916. I don’t want it to look like people are entering through a mudroom.

Second request: any good looking Murphy beds?

I love your thread, eye-candy OP! My request:

Our master bedroom has a double door and a shallow (2 foot) entryway, and straight ahead is our bed. There’s a guest bedroom doorway directly opposite the hall and if our door is open, they can see right to our bed. We’d like some kind of privacy screen in the master bedroom entryway. Bonus points if it also blocks sound. I was thinking maybe sliding vertical panels on a track? Can you use your genius to find some inspiration? Thank you!!!

More modern takes...

Thank you so much, OP! I love these, especially the modern ones. You’ve given me a lot of inspiration. Thank you for taking the time out to do this.

I'm baaaack! Well, I'm always around, but I don't always log in to post.

I think you should be searching for Big Chill and Smeg kitchens. Those two companies have that retro look.

So it's hard for me to work with this because this seems to be asking for a space plan and not design inspiration. I'm sorry!

I KD I know says that galley kitchens are efficient and get a bad rap! With her words in mind, I'm doing some searching...

This kitchen fascinated me years ago when it was in House Beautiful. So small, but so pretty.

By the way, another option for small kitchen inspiration is to look for butler's pantries and sculleries.

There are tons of good looking murphy beds. Maybe the forum needs a separate thread for the "find me this specific thing" requests.
