You are not alone, OP, but don't discount the older moms. I hang out with moms 10, 20 years older than me and they are just as fun as my 30 something friends.

I'm only 44, but it's depressing as hell to see all these moms who look like they are 15 driving fancy SUVs and pushing fancy baby buggies. Where'd they get all that money? Are they old enough to work?

It will get better. My first was when I was 28 and the shift came when my d was old enough to toddle aroud the playground and choose her own friends- I went along for the ride and found friendships that I have never imagined were possible with the mommies daddies and nannies that congregated in all the usual kid haunts.

Now I'm thirty nine with another toddler...but because of my other kids, work etc I'm not doing the park meet and greets quite so much and I have to say I miss it.

Accept the isolation or do something about it- either way it will change.

The only person who seems to have a problem with anyone's age is you.

About the fancy baby buggies and fancy cars: I hate to break it to you, but people of "old money" are absolutely NOT the ones spending their money on $1000.+ strollers or new top-of-the-line/SUV-of-the-month vehicle. In fact, 1 or 2 of them that that I happen to know are *renting* their domiciles or vacations and have very little to their own name. So really, don't fret it. I would bet they would give anything to be anyone else. Status symbol, anyone? Do you really want to spend your precious time with someone so shallow?

Most of the new moms in this area ARE closest to 40. I don't know where the hostile poster is getting their information. How they look is up to them. But you do seem to be concerning yourself WAY too much with it. Perhaps a good look in the mirror will fix it? NAH....

OP - age really has nothing to do with it; only parenting style. Try to find someone on the same page. I know it is difficult in this area. Good luck.

If you want to meet moms your age, why don't you create a post under General Parenting looking to start a playgroup for moms around your age? Get an anonymous email account to set it up and you're all set.

I have a two-week-old and just turned 29. Funny if that is considered a "young" mother in this area... where I grew up, many people got engaged in college, married just after graduation, and had their first baby by 23 or maybe 24, so I would be considered an "older" mom there.

33 what? 33 year since you got your driver's license?
people in dc are too much focused in their careers that they forget about family. when they realize they missed it they pretend nothing happened and get preggo at age 40. i wonder who will be happy handling a teenager at age 55... a 55 yo is supposed to be enjoying retirement and waiting for grandchildren!

Foreign Born Nanny, I presume. I see you've been shitting all over several threads today. If you don't have something useful to add, please get out and go do something useful with your time.
