Ben Carson and the Pyramids

Anonymous
This whole thing, whether history denial by Ben Carson, or of fanciful reinvention of the Civil War by Confederate Flag supporters, or of climate denial, is part and parcel of this warped attitude that conservatives are entitled to their opinion even when the facts show it to be wrong. Sorry, but personal theories and opinions do not outweigh actual documented facts. Nor does "the Bible says" - sorry, but we actually do have a huge amount of detailed first hand information about the purpose of the pyramids as actually written by the Egyptians themselves, from the time when the pyramids were built. https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=bI47YJQY_K8C&oi=fnd&pg=PR9&dq=ancient+egyptian+pyramid+texts#v=onepage&q&f=false

I would think that further proof that he is clearly suffering from dementia would be quite enough for it to matter. But, I am sure that some of his supporters will disagree with your diagnoses. Assuming Carson is not suffering from any cognitive disorders, this sheds light on his supposed intellect and his ability to process information.

Given your brilliance, why haven't you accomplished even one tenth of what Ben Carson has done? Instead you sit around blogging stupid shit all day to bash anyone that doesn't think or believe exactly as you do.

Are you defending Carson's theories about the pyramids? Do you also believe they were used to store grain? This is not about me, but if I were running for President, I would certainly not expect to get a pass for all the stupid things that I've said. Do you believe that anything stupid that Carson says should be ignored?

Not defending or refuting. I really do t care what Carson, you or anyone thinks of the ancient Egyptians. I'm simply amused that someone e who has accomplished little in comparison would be so zealous to discredit his intellect.

Carson just rode the coattails of a lot of eminent surgeons at JH who, unlike him, weren't crazy egomaniacs who thought of themselves as God's gift to humanity and were happy to let him have the spotlight. He is a case of affirmative action gone very wrong.

Please share specifically whose coattails he rode. I worked at Hopkins in the PICU and cared for many of his patients over several years and I would be fascinated to hear you back this up.

That PP has just been owned. Thank you for chiming in. To question Dr. Carson in this regard is nothing short of slander.

And now CNN has come out with a report suggesting that Carson is a compulsive liar who fabricated his story of redemption from a violent youth. Maybe the left are hoping he gets the nomination then they will address all of these crazy stories and once they come out he won't win. He clearly is not being vetted by his own party.

I think Trump and Carson are getting a pass from Republican voters because right now they are just venting frustration, not actually voting. Meaning--I think the polls are polling voters' frustration, not actual voting tendencies.

In the words of Inigo Montoya...(because some of us like to give credit to whom credit is due): "You keep using that word "slander." I do not think it means what you think it means."
And no, the core element of my post related to John Freeman, and that you chose to ignore. The rest just provides additional support for Carson's gift of, ahem, embellishment, unless you think there's a right-wing and a center (CNN) a left-wing conspiracy to discredit him. But thanks for the red herring.

There have been many natural experiments with Sanders' "socialist" policy proposals that provide evidence of their effectiveness and viability. He's not pulling this sh!t out of his azz. Carson, however, seems to turn to his backside for a few too many of his ass-ertions.

Carson came up with this by himself, but based on Genesis, which tells of Joseph stored grain in Egypt enough for seven years. Now, some folks believe a guy was nailed on a cross, died, then rose from the dead. Seriously, they do. Better yet, some crazies think a lamp burned for 8 days. Clearly these nutcases are unqualified for office.

The legal term you're apparently thinking of is "defamation" and, more particularly, "libel." However, Carson is a public figure and an idiot to boot. Go read Sullivan v. New York Times. That is all.

jsteele wrote:I can't believe we haven't discussed this yet. For those who have been living in a cave -- or perhaps a pyramid -- in 1998 Ben Carson gave a speech in which he said:

"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain. Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain."

Okay, okay. This was 1998 and who among us has not articulated our own personal theory about the pyramids (yes, normally in different circumstances then a speech, but still). So, certainly by now Carson has evolved on this issue, right? Wrong. Asked about his theory yesterday, he said:

"It's still my belief, yes. The pyramids were made in a way that they had hermetically sealed compartments. You would need that if you were trying to preserve grain for a long period of time."

For those who may not be up on their pyramidology, other than the burial chambers, the pyramids are solid. The Egyptians also had grain silos which were used, surprisingly enough, to store grain.

Here's my take on this man, Jeff:

Neurosurgeons are like CEO's in the sense that NOONE argues with them in " their OR "and families get down on their knees and kiss their feet in gratitude

In this way, a reasonably smart med student develops , over the course of a few decades , a bit of a "know it all complex", ala Trump

No one has said " no" to Ben Carson in a long time and , yes, he is daily ruining his reputation as more and more people begin to laugh at him ( behind his back of coarse)

You do realize that neurologists do not perform surgery, right?
You realize that as laudable as Dr. Freeman was, he never cut on anyone, he never performed ANY neurosurgery, let alone a hemispherectomy. He would refer them to a neurosurgeon who would perform the procedure. Neurosurgeons do not manage epilepsy, however they work closely with neurologists who manage the patient over the lifetime. Yes, Freeman revived the procedure for intractable seizures but he did not, could not, perform the surgery. That was Carson and later Dr. Gallo. Freeman and Gallo were a team and each managed the patient within their specialty.

Sanders didn't actually say that. Maybe you can get a real quote and we can discuss that?

You deleted the MSNBC quote about Carson. Why? It matters.

It must have been highly offensive.

She wrongly attributed the quote and it had nothing to do with the topic at hand. It was part of her usual tactic of attempting to derail discussions that don't go her way. Another example of that tactic is asking questions that belong in Website Feedback.

The real question, Mr. Steele, is why you chose not to mention the parts of Dr. Carson's story that referenced ancient aliens.

Are you part of the cover-up? Or should that be asked in "Website Feedback" as well......?

Everything Carson is slandered for is taken out of context. I do not agree with many of his beliefs, however, the way he just ignores all the haters and the bullshit is commendable. He does not give a flying fuck what anyone says or thinks about him-he stands by his word. I find that a most valuable trait-add on the fact that he is a moral man with integrity, who sees the downward spiral the USA is heading "(and actually wants to turn that around) and he has my vote. Hillary is dishonest and Bernie (while I like some of his ideas) will likely lead this country down a path that no one wants to go. Trump, aside from his immigration views, is a bully and an immature asshole (also dishonest), we do not need someone like him in the White house. We have already endured 7 plus years of bullshit by a man who seems to have us more divided and full of hate than ever-not to mention all the censorship, and PC propaganda. We are slowly being stripped of our freedoms and rights, and Carson sees and understands that. If there is hope-it lies not in the "Proles", but in Carson. We need to band together to stop this insanity, or we will look like the world in 1984.

Ask these pro-life advocates what they think about Carson's "word." As good as his bond? Not really.

That's not the point. The point is that Freeman revived it, and handed it off to a neurosurgeon, who in this case happened to be Carson. Yet Carson refers to him as if he gave a peripheral consult.
